“In the early stages of The COVID-19 Experience, like everyone else in the world, my husband and I faithfully obeyed the quarantine regimen. We enjoyed it in the beginning, making up recipes to use up the food in the cabinets , playing dominoes, cocktail hour ( that was way more than an hour and started a little earlier than standard time). It was almost fun. But by week 7 or 8, cabin fever struck. Depression struck. Fear and anxiety overwhelmed. I thought life as we knew it was done. I thought we'd never enjoy anything again. Then I read something about a restaurant " up the hill" . It had somehow figured out a way to serve people delicious food in the gorgeous outdoors in a safe and efficient way. My husband and I ventured out on an exciting date. Life felt exciting and almost normal! If I told you that day was such a promising pick-me-up, tonic, even a cure for the COVID blues, it would be an understatement. It was a beautiful day, blue skies, clean crisp air. Everyone was pleasant and nervously friendly. We got delicious tri-tip sandwiches and one beer each . They had a properly distanced line, plexiglass shields, and an effective pick up method. I just would like to thank you all at Sugarloaf for restoring some sense of normalcy in a time of crisis. You lifted our spirits in a dark time. My husband and I cannot thank you enough.“

“Working with Tommy’s Kitchen during our time in Idyllwild was a fantastic experience! Our small film crew from Los Angeles has several dietary restrictions, but Chef Tommy exceeded our expectations. Our team raved about his delicious food and left the trays empty! Chef Tommy's patience and flexibility made this experience truly worthwhile. I highly recommend his services for future film and TV productions.“

“Fantastic food. My picky teenager claimed it was the best burger he’s ever had. Sweet potato fries were delicious and worth getting if you like those. They have a covered outdoor space and a few tables and a bar inside. I’ll be back to try the corn nuggets.
Parking: Only a few spots out front, but plenty of options nearby and in walking distance of other shops and restaurants.
Kid-friendliness: Burgers and fries any kid would enjoy.“

“The vegan ravioli was absolutely phenomenal. The pizza crust was just was just perfect. Overall such a great option here. We normally do Mama’s House which was closed, so gave this a go and so happy that we did. Gobbled down the ravioli before we could take any pictures Updated from previous review on 2025-09-01“

“4 stars only because the lobster bits tasted a bit sour.
Nice little area. Food was plentyful. Definitely options for everyone. Waitress was patient, helpful and quick.
We sat outside since it was a bit stuffy inside but it was warm that weekend.
Was nice to have the option to eat here since there is a lot of Italian food mostly around that area.“

“Great service and a wonderful place to stop for a meal. I ordered the nachos. They were okay. The chili needed salt and the two sauces they brought lacked flavor and salt. My husband ordered the Jose burger with fries. The fries were delicious. They were hot and crispy. My husband was grateful that they included a big ring of fresh onion on his burger. The best thing was the yummy apple pie a la mode. I couldn't stop eating the caramel drizzle. The crust was definitely home made. Loved it!“
