“10 STARS IF I COULD! I met the owner a year ago at Starbucks in Cabazon and we talked about service dogs and how he owned this cafe have a home near here and I decided to finally come in and I have got to say he has the BEST BURGERS! 1/2 POUND!! JUICY ANGUS!!!

While I LOVE the red kettle for their brisket and pies this man has the best burgers! 🍔 He also has my FAVORITE AND ONLY BEER I will drink! Franziskanner!!

“In the early stages of The COVID-19 Experience, like everyone else in the world, my husband and I faithfully obeyed the quarantine regimen. We enjoyed it in the beginning, making up recipes to use up the food in the cabinets , playing dominoes, cocktail hour ( that was way more than an hour and started a little earlier than standard time). It was almost fun. But by week 7 or 8, cabin fever struck. Depression struck. Fear and anxiety overwhelmed. I thought life as we knew it was done. I thought we'd never enjoy anything again. Then I read something about a restaurant " up the hill" . It had somehow figured out a way to serve people delicious food in the gorgeous outdoors in a safe and efficient way. My husband and I ventured out on an exciting date. Life felt exciting and almost normal! If I told you that day was such a promising pick-me-up, tonic, even a cure for the COVID blues, it would be an understatement. It was a beautiful day, blue skies, clean crisp air. Everyone was pleasant and nervously friendly. We got delicious tri-tip sandwiches and one beer each . They had a properly distanced line, plexiglass shields, and an effective pick up method. I just would like to thank you all at Sugarloaf for restoring some sense of normalcy in a time of crisis. You lifted our spirits in a dark time. My husband and I cannot thank you enough.“

“I didn’t expect to find this level of Italian food in Idyllwild. The flavors, authenticity, and atmosphere were so amazing. The chef coming out to check on us was extremely touching. Shoutout to Laura for also being so kind and warm. I came here with my elderly mother all the way from Orange County, but we would gladly go again. I had to ask my son how to write this review for me, because I wanted to give a genuine review without ChatGPT. That's how good this restaurant was to me. “Basically a must stop in Idyllwild, everything flavor they have is delicious so dont be afraid to try something new. I was blown away by the salted caramel oreo, lately I have been enjoying the seasonal pumpkin. Every scoop comes with a cookie and they make an ice cream for dogs that has no sugar or salt, my dog goes craaaaazy for it. The owners are super kind and you can tell they care about their customers.

This place has also spawned a love for jerky, Ive tried all the flavors but the hottest ones, my favorite at the moment is the smoky sweet Tahquitz (also called smoky sweet Mesquite). Dont sleep on the Jerky like I did!“

“Working with Tommy’s Kitchen during our time in Idyllwild was a fantastic experience! Our small film crew from Los Angeles has several dietary restrictions, but Chef Tommy exceeded our expectations. “We’ve been here about 3 times, food is always next level. They don’t take reservations, had a 45 minute wait. Dog friendly place, they sit you on the patio, the patio has heaters. I ordered the ribeye, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Also, had the tiramisu martini, which is absolutely delicious. Pictures provided for reference. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Also, a highlight when we visit. Go check them out!“

“I've been to Idllwyld several times but had never stopped at the Lumber Mill before. I didn't know what I was missing!
I had a pastrami sandwich and it was fantastic! It only took a couple minutes to arrive after I had ordered it. The service is very good although there isn't a lot of seating (probably 7 or 8 tables plus 6 or 7 stools at the bar) the atmosphere is comfortable with the way you would expect a mountain town diner to look and feel.“

“One of the best sashimis I had, hands down! We got the 9pc sashimi (albacore, salmon, yellow fin) and it was so good, fresh, soft and tasted like milk. We also had the pork katsu and beef teriyaki bowl which were both delicious. Serving size is huge and share between the two of us. We even took some of the katsu and teriyaki home.

Service was quick and very friendly. The chef/owner even went out to check on us. This was a perfect meal after our 5.2mi hike.“
