“We skipped dessert at the Stone House Pizza restaurant in favor of the Chocolate Shoppe because the wife loves to try local versions of Rocky Road bricks from the region. This shoppe is family owned and run which typically means that the flavor of chocolate we could get here may be unique to this establishment. The shoppe is located on the right side of the street heading up the hill in Nevada City's Pine Street in Downtown.

When you come through the door, it looks like most candy/chocolate shops you would see offering the same kinds of commercial candies, sodas, ice creams, etc. Standard fare. We are only ever interested in the chocos so went straight to the glass to see what they offered. Their rocky road is sold in clusters vs. cut up bricks/cubes and were about 3.50 a piece. For me, this is a much more reasonable price than I am used to as many boutique choco shoppes sell these for the tune of about 8.50 or so, but that is also a pricing based on weight and not necessarily by piece. We also picked up a Macadamia Cluster and a Peanut Butter Cup.

The Macadamia nut cluster tasted good. Good sized nuts with a sprinkle of salt works for me as I love the salt hit with my choco. The peanut butter cup was tall, about 2.5 Reese's stacked on each other and the peanut butter inside is smooth and balanced for a candy vs. sandwich peanut butter. Well done. For my wife, she felt the milk chocolate was good, but not as good as her favorite from the Monterey coast Pier choco shoppe. I agree with her in the sense that these were good, but not the best we have ever had. In a world where chocolate tastes less and less like what you expect it to everyday, this one is still a good one.
