This is our favorite Afghani place in the Eastbay. The food is always great and the staff is nice. You must try the Bolani and the Chapi kabob. The staff goes over and beyond each time and even trys to accommodate when they have events that books out the restaurant.

We went there today for sheer yakh, unfortunately it was so disappointing experience. First they had party and didn’t let us know even we called them in advance and we had to stand outside. Secondly they give us the ready made ice cream in the name of sheeryakh. It is really disappointing that our own Afghans are doing this.

People say beware of a restaurant that doesn't have many patrons. When we first arrived at this place, it was empty. Apprehensively we entered because we were hungry and we wanted Afghan food. We ordered. The food came and it was delicious. Soon people in formal clothes started to arrive and we realized that they had just come from the mosque. The day was a Islamic holiday and they came after their prayers. I'm glad we gave in to hunger against the common wisdom.

I went to Maiwand Village with my family for buffet for Ramadan and it was unbelievable how they charge $23 per kid even though only one of the kid in our family ate there but they charged me for 2 kids. I understand $25 per adult but kids like seriously, they even charged us $32 for two jags of sodas which it supposed to be part of buffet we thought, and lastly they charged us $58 for service fee- like what?! There was no service provided, it was self served buffet. Not going there ever again :(

The best Afghan restaurant! The food is so tasty, I crave it all the time while fasting during Ramadan. I appreciate the workers for being so kind and hard working while it is time for them to break their fast as well. I love what they’ve done with the place, many old reviews are from the old “Afghan Village” which I wasn’t fond of, but Maiwand did amazing taking over. The food and new interior remodel is all outstanding!

I came to your restaurant yesterday with my family after recommendation from friends. We all had an amazing time. The tasting menu was delicious and the staff so attentive and friendly. The gentleman who was front of house was a very jolly character and made the dining experience more enjoyable. I just wanted to say thank you! It's not all the time people get praised, the quality of the service and food was excellent. I also liked your all delicious and different food it was amazing I can say that I felt the greatest organic meal . It's nice to know there are such places local to us. We will definitely be coming again! Many thanks again

This is hands down the best afghan restaurant in the bay area!!! I came for iftar buffet with my large family & they quickly helped us. Everyone loved the food options, even the picky kids! I highly recommend this restaurant- food, service, atmosphere all 10/10. Cannot recommend Maiwand enough to my friends and family.

Went there couple days ago for iftar buffet and didnt have a good experience. The food is average quality and way expensive for only 5 items. Staff is rude and their only objective is $$ and not customer service. 8 years old kid was charged same as adult (for only two slice of bolani). Visit Kaamdesh restaurant $17.99 with more than 10 items on the table, and kids eat half-off. I am not complaining about money but how be-insaaf they are.

My entire family got sick the next day! Filthy disgusting and overpriced. Everything was preheated. Don’t risk wellbeing of your loved ones in here, it’s not worth. There is far more better options elsewhere. I wish I could give them 0 stars, but it is what is. Shame on you dirty Maiwand Village !!

Ordered 2 bolani for $35.31 and we couldn’t even eat it. Straight went to the garbage this wasn’t my first experience 3 months ago I got kabob and it was really bad too. Next day I ordered 2 bolani from De Afghanan for $26 and it was really good. I really don’t recommend this place to anyone if you wanna waste you money than it’s up to you.

Seemed more of an event location doubling as a restaurant on open days. Plenty of parking outside. Place was clean with few tables set. Food was served warm, service had to be requested everytime by going to the register and ringing a bell.
