Laventina's Big Cheese Pizza

We always cruise by this place but never tried it cuz of the parking. So last night around 10pm we gave it a whirl as parking wasn’t bad on the street. We are so glad that we tried it cuz this is probably the best pizza we’ve laid our taste buds on out here in the states. We got a large pepperoni pizza that was $26. The two guys at the window that helped us provided great customer service. Just a heads up that there is no tables to chill and grub down at. If you are in the area and are craving pizza, this place won’t disappoint. Cheers

The worst pizza I’ve ever had. The crust was soggy, the toppings were sparse and tasteless, and the cheese tasted like plastic. We ended up throwing the entire pizza in the trash! I’m baffled by their 4.6 rating. I am sure it's fake and they manipulate the reviews. I rarely write reviews, but this place was so awful I had to warn others.

We had the cauliflower crust supreme and it was outstanding. We called and they were the only ones with cauliflower crust. Fills you up not out. Gluten free alternative.

this place isn’t about the pizza — not really
the dough’s too chewy, the cheese is too salty, and the sauce tastes like it was born in a can
but at 2am, none of that matters
your bloodstream's half gin, half regret
your legs are tired from standing at the bar pretending to have something to say
and what you need is salt, heat, grease, and something to remind you you’re still alive

Laventina’s gives you that
not with love
but with obligation
like an ex-girlfriend who lets you crash on her couch because she feels sorry for you

I used to come here in college
Thursday nights were bloodsport
shouting over house music with the trust-fund kids and the dead-eyed bartenders
then crawling out into the black night and letting Laventina’s mop it all up

once, some poor bastard told me he puked in the alley after inhaling a whole pie
said it came out slow like Play-Doh
I told him that’s life
he said, “no, that’s pizza”

the other night I found myself back there
I hadn’t eaten in hours
saw the old sign, the yellow light buzzing like a dying fly
walked in and ordered a couple mediums and a meatball sandwich
pepperoni, jalapeños, chicken, garlic
held the shame

no seats, of course
this place doesn’t want you to linger
just grab your box and disappear into the fog of Newport

I stood on the sidewalk and ate
alone
like always
like a king without a castle
like a man without a reason

it tasted like memory
like sweat and vodka and the worst decisions of my 20s
and somehow
it was beautiful

if you're sober, this place is average
if you're drunk, it's religion
either way, it's honest

that’s more than most can say

Everything about this location is great and all. It's just that you have to stand outside while you wait for your pizza.

Very good pizza at a fair price.

Love this place! The pizza was great and the staff was amazing! They went out of their way to make sure our order was perfect. Matt took care of us with a smile on his face and made sure we had a great experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Rocking good. Perfect slices and a very well put together Antipasto salad.

After a nice day at the beach, this pizza is the best .
