La Carreta Novato Mexican Food

This is my first review. Have to say something because this place is ridiculous. I ordered for my family of six (I know way to big of a family for Marin county)

Food is crazy expensive for a hole in the wall - but the prices are posted and I knew what I was getting into.

Order:
1 combo plate with 2 tacos
6 tacos
California Burrito
Mucho burrito

$98 + tip 🙈

When I got home there was no combo plate. I gave a call to let them know I was coming back to pick up the combo plate. When I showed up they asked me for $23 more…

I ended up spending nearly $150 for a mediocre meal and my kids still wanted rice cakes after eating.

The guacamole and one type of salsa was the only thing worth in that place. The price for each taco is $4.00.. I ordered six tacos, chicken, pastor, and asada. All the meat was dried and chopped so small that it was impossible to have a taste of any of the meat. Each taco comes in two small tortillas. The condiments are free. But the main ingredients are the meats and are not worth the overprice. The tacos were poorly served not enought meat and without flavor.
Not worth coming.back!

Yesterday I visited this place and ordered two burritos. While I was ordering, the woman behind the counter asked me “what are you going to drink?” instead of asking if I actually wanted a drink. I ended up ordering two small Cokes.
However, when I checked the receipt, I discovered that she had charged me for three medium-sized Cokes instead, which are larger and more expensive than the regular small ones. The total for those drinks alone came out to $16, which is completely unreasonable.
I also noticed that they added extra charges for sour cream, even though I specifically told her no sour cream on either burrito.
What made the situation even more suspicious is that she did not intend to give me the receipt. I had to specifically ask for it. After seeing the receipt, it became clear that the order had been entered incorrectly.
In the end, I paid $54 for two burritos and two Cokes to go, which is completely irrational and unacceptable for such a simple order.
At this point, it is hard not to believe that this was done intentionally. This is not about $5 or $10 — it’s about basic honesty and fair treatment of customers. I am sharing this experience so other people pay close attention to what they are being charged.

Way over priced! The food isnt even that good seriously about 6/10.. its edible.. Portions are tiny!! Overall totally not worth it. Mi pueblo and Carmens La haceinda are 100% better and worth the money.. also there salsa is better at those places. This place sucks

Good Mexican food. I thought the price was reasonable. I had a super burrito with guac , salsa , sour cream and meat etc with chips. it was $14. Seems reasonable to me

Used to go here for bean burritoes but then they started to charge me for veggie burritos. I am not paying $13 for a bean burrito... that's just crazy price. Shame... won't be going back there.

Don’t know what these other folks are on about, this is the best Mexican in Novato with the possible exception of Sabor by Pini. Service is great, horchata is delicious, beer is cold, and the carnitas is the best I’ve had since San Jose in San Rafael burned down. If you know you know.

I ordered some tacos of carne asada which was with no flavor at all. I ordered horchata that had a lot of sugar. I would say I don’t recommend this place.

Went there today to go get two burritos with no meat and was charged nearly $35. They said because I added sour cream and avocado they nearly double priced a regular burrito. I would’ve never paid for that but because of medical reasons of staying in the car my daughter went and not knowing that that was a rip off. I will never go back there again with overpriced. Again a burrito with no meat. Ridiculous

Was meeting a friend in Novato and googled Mexican restaurants, this one came up. It's located on Novato Blvd, on way out into the country. We were greeted and told to seat ourselves. Chips and water were served. Chips a bit stale, but carne asada burrito was very good and flavorful. I ordered glass of Chardonnay and it took forever to receive. Also the menu prices are lower than the prices on our check, they need to update menu with "new" prices. Also the menu has numerous pages, lots of choices.

I used to enjoy coming here, but it’s no longer worth it. The food is overpriced, and the service is subpar. It’s a shame because it used to be much better. I’d suggest checking out El Rey or Mi Pueblo for a better experience and better value. This place just doesn’t cut it anymore.
