Oishi! Love this place. It's a very reasonably priced prix fixe Japanese restaurant where the food is meticulously and artistically prepared. Clearly it's the owner's passion, artistry, and abilities that combine to make this place so wonderful. And guess what, he's actually Japanese! Also, he is very welcoming, gracious, and kind. The restaurant is small and intimate, and the wait staff is very friendly. And this restaurant is simply the best Japanese restaurant in Oakland, and perhaps the East Bay! Check it out! If you appreciate Japanese cuisine, you won't be disappointed.

It’s so hard to articulate how special Delage was. I found a reservation last minute. The server and the chef were amazing. The space is cozy and welcoming. The food was incredible. The bill - underwhelming (in a good way). I am still wondering what am I missing. Such a great omakase experience for $125??? I must be missing something?

I would categorize delage as entry level fine dining. Excellent quality of unique japanese influenced dishes with sustainable ingredients and local influences. Every dish was a unique tasting experience- from lightly seared wagyu nigiri to local flower salad w foam dressing, if youre in the mood for something different or interested in fine dining but not quite ready to take the plunge to somewhere like french laundry, theyre a great stepping stone. Highly recommend.

This is the best sushi/omakase in the Bay Area. I live in LA (and have tried most every sushi restaurant in the Bay and LA) but whenever I fly into Oakland, I always make reservations here. Chikara is a master. You will not be disappointed. The sake pairing is excellent!
