Recently visited for Oakland Resturaunt Week and their amazing 3 course prix fixe menu for $45!
Started off with a delicious and sweet cocktail called the Saturno. My first course was the Guacamole, which was light tasting with a hint of spice. The second course was sautéed prawns in the garlic butter sauce served with toasted baguettes. The third course was a flavorful birria plate of Mexican rice, beans and homemade tortillas with some salsa. Everything was colorfully presented but the birria was tender and warm, so my favorite course for sure!
Our server Miguel was kind and attentive for our first time! He explained each part of our meal thoroughly and offered smooth Tequila to top off the Friday night!
Definitely recommend for an intimate dinner with friends or a date night!
Excellent food. Creative and delicious drinks. Friendly staff. You can’t go wrong here. I love the tempura fish tacos. The popcorn chicken is delicious. Don’t miss this place.
Excellent food and drinks. Exceptional service. We celebrated a birthday, group of 6, and everyone had a wonderful time. Highly recommend it. Order the specials.
Great cocktails and food. Fish tacos were great.
Excellent balanced cocktails. Food is good too, a bit on the greasy side but excellent proportions. I appreciate the extra mushrooms and onions in the house potatoes.

I held a small event there. We had their brunch. Everyone in my party of 25 loved the food, the cocktails and had zero complaints about the staff. Their favorite dish were the tacos. We had steak and carnitas. The cost was extremely affordable for the quality of food, space and great service we received. Also making the arrangements were very simple and they really worked within my budget. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite and sangria!

Came here for Oakland Restaurant week, was underwhelmed. While there were some good bites amongst the many we shared, this left me craving more traditional authentic dishes with more flavor. The lamb tongue and crab taquitos were pretty tasty, but everything else was pretty forgettable.

I really enjoyed their cocktails such as Hibiscus Margarita and Desert Rose, but I thought the raw oyster is a bit overpriced, even for happy hours.

This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant my wife and I have been to, we stumbled upon this place for our 2 year anniversary and the tacos, and cocktails were so delicious. It has become our anniversary outing spot! Will be coming back here for them tacos!

Bar Cesar is nice local neighborhood spot with good food and nice selection of tequila. It's a spot where, after driving for hours on a rainy night and getting drenched after parking your car, you walk in at 832 pm and though they are open until 9pm, they tell you the kitchen is closed and they kick you out. When you ask when did the kitchen close they say 830. Two minutes ago. A neighborhoody spot has to be warm, inviting, and dependable. This place is not that. So I walked back into the rain and gave my money to Doña, which is now my go-to neighborhood spot. They keep their kitchen open until posted ours, in this case 9pm.
