“Calabash was AMAZING. I was with a large group and the owner and staff still made it feel like each person mattered. The food was great, had the oxtails, pasta and plantains. Some of the best oxtails I have had. It was great to meet the owner and to realize this place is not just a restaurant it is a hub for the betterment of the community. I will be back EVERY time I am in Oakland!“

“I had the pleasure of sharing a meal with the family 12/6/2024. The food was quite delicious. The staff were Wonderful and very accommodating. My lil story is a love collard greens and am always “judgy” about collard greens. Part of my judgyness is stem or no stem. My personal opinion is, if they are cooked properly then Most definitely! And these were cooked to perfection! Taste/flavor, Awesome. The oyster mushroom sliders……You just have to go and taste for yourself. Outstanding! 100% they will be seeing me and mine again. “Such a great old school vibe at this venerable blues club in the heart of Oakland. Amazing music with an alternating cast of vocalists and musicians as the night went on. Crowd was a mix of ages and colors and a positive vibe all around. For a break from the tunes there is a vast back yard area with tables and a second bar that has beer and wine. Get liquor from the main bar only. Bartenders were working hard but very friendly. Great time!“

“Got the 8 pieces of dark meat, and it was surprisingly really good with crispy batter and a little spicy kick. It's even good the day after, reheated in the microwave. Definitely coming back here when I have that fried chicken craving.“
