“First time here, celebrating my sister's birthday and it was like we were kicking it at a friend's house! I was able to make a reservation one day in advance for 7 people during peak dinner hours, and even called the same day to change our time with no issues whatsoever. They accommodated us right away and sat us even without my whole party present. Someone had called out, but we never even felt like service was slow or anything. This is a family owned and operated business, and we really felt like we were a part of that. Granted, we had quite a few shots, so alcohol tends to loosen up people but even without that, the whole staff were cool as heck. The food was delicious. Calamari (forgot to take a pic) was light and crunchy, served with cocktail and tartar sauces. The garlic noodles were super flavorful and stayed buttery. Some places tend to dry out and clump up, but not these! The seafood boils also had tons of flavor and spice. Medium was about as much as I could handle. Lol I think my absolute favorite dish was the Player's Plate. It comes with garlic noodles, 5 Tony's wings, 5 prawns and a huge catfish filet. Best bang for your buck, in my opinion. I would get that next time we go. And a special surprise was Tony's Style (Berkeley) was in the building. They were temporarily operating out of the space, so we had to get the shrimp and crab baguette. All that cheesy seafood goodness went perfect with our shots. Lolol Needless to say, we took home lots of leftovers. We had a blast, and I hope yall have a great experience too.“
“I need a deep dark roux in my gumbo. Restaurants that make gumbo in mass quantities Make their roux in a cookie sheet with pre-mixed fat and flour. Then they put it in the oven. That gives them tons of roux to make multiple batches of gumbo. Also, props on the beignets. You're about halfway there. You need the hole in the middle. But it is incredibly difficult unless there's one person dedicating themselves to the beignet dough. So I can't blame you for that.“
“The food was very good. And the restaurant wasn't busy, so we got seated right away. Our waitress was quick and friendly. The swamp water tea was delicious, if a little small for $6. Fried Okra was great. I enjoyed my Po' Boy sandwich, it was a bit messy, but the oysters were flavorful. My husband thought the ribs were perfectly cooked, and enjoyed his beans. The only real disappointment was the Sweet Potato Fries which were limp and soft. The outside seating made it so we could enjoy the pleasant afternoon weather.“
“One of my favorite local spots on the City. The staff is always super nice and genuinely friendly. My wife and I always feel good about dining here. This evening we had the amazing Bucket of Chicken. Sides were the standard Mac n Cheese, potatoes and gravy, greens.... Also a huge burger to mix it up.Highly recommend dining here. It's not always easy to score a table. But tonight it was cold and rainy so.....Cheers!“
“The food here is packed with flavor. We really enjoyed the fried chicken and ribs. They also have a bunch of tasty drinks. Highly recommend the hurricane mixed drink. Biscuits were perfectly soft and fries had a good crunch. Go here when you are hungry and you will leave very happy.“
“Very tasty crawfish étouffée, shrimp creole (both pleasantly but not excessively spicy), and voodoo shrimp (unlike what you might expect from the name, this is savory but not spicy, great for our low-spice companion). Nice service. Laid-back casual atmosphere with live music, but not too loud to talk easily.“
“The service was excellent, timely, and friendly. I had the shrimp and grits and it was exactly right: consistency, cheese, the shrimp, everything was top of the line. Also had a cream biscuit and jelly and let me tell you: you're not beating this anywhere close to the bay.I can't recommend it enough and will absolutely be back. The only drawback was the outside seating wasn't good: the table was not sturdy (which honestly i would not have put up with anywhere else, i would have left. so that's how good the food is) and it was cold even though there were heaters.“
“Chef Lala of Jusla Eats was a joy to work with. She was professional, responsive, and runs an efficient operation. Her food was top notch - I ordered the honey garlic chicken, fried catfish, mac and cheese, greens, yams, banana pudding and peach cobbler for an extended family and friends meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, and seasoned just right. Everyone went back for seconds, and raved about the food. I started recommending her to my friends before I even left the reception!“
“The food says it all. If you are in the S.F. Bay Area, you need to treat yourself to this delicious food. The ambiance is amazing too. Dress up if you like. It is an exotic and esoteric experience that welcomes casual and dressy alike. I find myself ordering takeout or catering. After you find your faves on the vast menu, try the catering too because you can get specific with your order and share with colleagues, friends and family. Here are a few of my faves from Chef Nigel: Oxtails Salmon Rice and Peas Brussel Sprouts with cherries Jamaican Jerk Chicken Salad“
“Heard about this new place on IG and knew I had to give it a try. Peruvian food is one of my top 3 so I was so excited. The restaurant is located on the industrial side of Cesar Chavez, right off 280. There aren't any other restaurants or bars nearby. Plenty of parking during dinner on a weeknight. The ambiance is causal and spacious. All the staff were attentive and very nice. Even the chef came out to ask us how our dinner was and thanked us for stopping by. All the flavors are there and each dish was really pretty. My favorite had to be the tallarines verdes. We ordered them as a side dish which isn't an option on the menu, but the chef accommodated us. Only thing I wish was that they had more wine options. But I'm sure that'll improve with time. Here's what we ordered: Lomo Saltado with Filet Mignon-10/10 Bistec a Lo Pobre-8/10 (wish my egg was a little more runny but still soooo good, could have done without the fries) Tallarines Verdes-10/10 Pisco Sour-9/10 It wasn't very busy which is expected being that it's fairly new. I really hope more people hear about this place because the food is solid! Excited to try more from their menu.“
“SOLID! I work in alameda so I've been coming to this location for YEARS! Go-to:SALT AND PEPPER WINGS (good size wings:meaty) I get it without the Jalepenos - they dust them with what seems like sugar or something to give it a some sweetness which I like The fries that come with it are the skinny type which compliment the wings. CRAB FRIED RICE- my friend told me about this item and been in love with it ever since! When I first got them there was SO much crab per rice ratio! Over the years though sometimes the crab ratio would be a little less but then I would come back and it would be better. I guess it depends on the season too if crabs are in season or not? Vibe inside has always been cool good music and Good size tvs for sports. What not. Don't forget to save room for dessert and grab you some ice cream too!!!!“
“I am thoroughly impressed with the Krispy Krunchy Chicken spot located inside my local convenience store. Its close proximity to my residence makes it a convenient dining option, enhanced by the availability of various snacks and essentials within the store itself. The staff at this establishment are efficient and courteous, ensuring prompt service without compromising on quality. The chicken here consistently exceeds my expectations, always cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I am particularly fond of their honey mustard dipping sauce, which adds a delightful tanginess to the crispy chicken. Additionally, the jambalaya stands out as a highlight on the menu, offering a perfect balance of spice and flavor. The honey biscuits and honey blueberry biscuits are delectable accompaniments to the chicken, while the potato wedges are a hit with my kids for their quick and satisfying snack. Personally, I recommend the chicken tenders for their juicy tenderness and exceptional taste. In conclusion, Krispy Krunchy Chicken provides a delightful dining experience with its flavorful offerings and efficient service. Whether you're in the mood for crispy chicken tenders or a spicy jambalaya, this spot has something to satisfy every palate. I highly recommend giving it a try for a truly enjoyable dining experience.“
“Order before seating.5 crispy little tasty oysters. The dressing is mayonnaise, too simple for me. Bun is lightly toasted. All in all the po boy is tasty and I would go back. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside, in other words, perfect.Inside the place can seat about 30 people. There is outdoor seating.Staff is cheerful and helpful.Single spacious and clean bathroom.“
“All and all it's pretty darn good chicken and potato wedges. I also enjoyed the honey biscuits as well. Another great thing about this location is the soda fountain with a large selection it even has horchota . Great place to grab a bite to eat while you stop to refuel your vehicle.“
“Update: "$20-30" is inaccurate/misleading. For 2, you can expect to spend $110 after tax and tip if you get one of their combos. The crab/shrimp/clam combo is $80.Excellent crab/clams/shrimp Cajun combo. Even mild was quite spicy. Gave me a HUGE stomach ache the next morning (due to the spice) but I still want to go back. Will just have to take some Tums/Pepto.Vegetarian options: Definitely avoid this place if you are vegetarian“
“Delicious, hot, and filling! We ordered the combo 1 w/ mussels and shrimp, calamari rings (w/ fries), and 6 raw oysters. As a party of 3, we left very full. They provided plastic gloves and bibs, but the sauce seems to seep through the gloves a little.“
“Such a great old school vibe at this venerable blues club in the heart of Oakland. Amazing music with an alternating cast of vocalists and musicians as the night went on. Crowd was a mix of ages and colors and a positive vibe all around. For a break from the tunes there is a vast back yard area with tables and a second bar that has beer and wine. Get liquor from the main bar only. Bartenders were working hard but very friendly. Great time!“
“During the pandemic, my significant other and I found solace in the vibrant flavors of San Francisco's take-away scene, with Voodoo Love shining as a culinary beacon. Recently, stepping into their Belden alleyway location felt like a dream realized, a small wish granted from our shelter-in-place days. The atmosphere was as delightful as their food, with the interior exuding a unique charm. Meeting Eva, the chef/magician/genius behind our favorite dishes, added a personal touch to our experience. Our Po-Boys, the shrimp for me and an extra spicy chicken for my partner, alongside their potent cocktails, were nothing short of magical. Enjoying this meal in Voodoo Love's enchanting setting felt like coming full circle, from pandemic patrons to in-person guests, cherishing each bite. This place, a cornerstone of joy then and now, deserves all the love and accolades. Thank you, Voodoo Love, for being a significant part of our journey.“
“Always wanted to eat here but never seem to get the timing right, a friend took him here for a Sunday brunch, and we ordered the two-way combos with ribs and links, potato salad, each of which come with a little piece of bread. Both the ribs and the links were outstanding, slow cooked, smoky, tender, crispy on the edges, and the sauce was excellent. We didn't eat inside though because they were catering for an event, and it was interesting to see a bunch of super well dressed people that looked like they were from down south or had down south roots enjoying some food.Staff was super nice, the lady that served us was a real sweetheart, and the overall experience was excellent. Highly recommended for the barbecue. I'm going to go back and try some of the other things!“
