Very good Indian food! It was adventurous to try. Food wasn’t greasy at all. Kind service. The woman answered all our questions. So much flavor!

Some of the best and most authentic home cooked Indian food in the entire Bay Area.

This place has 5 stars, but I expect they are mostly sympathy reviews. I get it. Nobody wants to be critical of an older couple running a restaurant in a tough neighborhood. And the food is good. Seriously, though, be prepared for frustration. Today they could not give me an estimate on how long it would take for my order to be ready. They said they would call. I had not heard from them an hour later, so I called. They said it would be ready in another 30 minutes. I showed up at that time and they said it would be another 5 minutes. That 5 minutes turned out to be 30 more minutes. And then they said the bill was $48, which was $16 more than what the menu prices would have totaled. Of course, I paid it without complaint-- because who wants to argue over 16 bucks with an older couple running a restaurant in a tough neighborhood. But I won't be back.

Good Indian food in East Oakland!! The location is dicey but the food is worth it! You don't have to drive forever anymore. Yeay!!

Best Indian Food ever. Mom and Pop shop. Super sweet couple working out of a small spot in East Oakland. Food is pretty much made to order and can be considered home made and just incredibly delicious. I've referred friends and it's definitely a winner every time. Just know that you should not just show up expecting your food in minutes as they prep and cook it fresh and it takes a while.. So if you really do just show up, be sure to have at least a granola bar on your stomach while you wait.. lol..

TLDR, it was SOLIDD! Been wanting to try this place for a while because of the positive Yelp reviews. The food: Wife and I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Veg Korma, and Lamb Sag. Rice and garlic naan. Really good bang for the buck. The Chicken Tikka really stood out because it was different from any I had elsewhere. It had this almost "Japanese chicken stew vibe," hard to explain, but it hit the spot. The chicken itself was really tender, which was a pleasant surprise because a lot of places tend to be dry and hard. Lamb Sag was good. Veg Korma wasn't my fav but it was cool. I think on the menu it says they use "minimal oil" and I could tell right off the bat. No glob of oil floating at the top. Didn't leave me with a heavy, oily feeling. The ordering experience was interesting. I knew I had to call the order ahead so I called a little past 11 when they opened. But then a man picked up said he was "still home" and told me I need to call back in 30 min. Then, I called back in 30 min and this time a lady picked up and told me to call back again in another 30 min. When I mentioned I was told to call back originally, the lady offered to call ME back. I've never had a restaurant offer to call me back. And sure enough she did! After I placed my order, they called back a couple of times to let me know the price and when the order was ready to pick up. That was nice of them. The back and fourth probably wouldn't have been ideal if we were in a rush, but luckily we were not. I figured it was a one off thing; things happen right? Drove out there and wife went in to the store to pick up the food. She said it was literally a mom and pop shop, just the two in a small kitchen, cooking up food, friendly vibe. They knew our order once we told them our number because we were the "guy that called twice" lol. To sum it up, solid, good value for the money, cash only, won't leave you feeling oily and bogged down like other Indian food in the similar price range can.

After some time away, I was happy to see that Masala Cuisine is thriving! I ordered some takeout. Since I last reviewed the restaurant, I switched from two spaces to one space after a period. But Masala Cuisine's food quality and service hasn't changed! Still five stars.

By far, this is THE best authentic Indian food I've ever had... and I've eaten a lot of Indian food across the U.S. It's the perfect hole in the wall and you have to call ahead to order (cash only), but it's worth it. The chicken tika masala and garlic naan are ridiculous good- honestly every dish we've ordered has been amazing!!! Don't order spicy unless you're ready for that authentic hot as hell spice. The medium spice is actually hot. A sweet couple that throws down. Worth the drive to East Oakland!!!

Home made Indian cuisine, dishes are prepared right there in front of you, the cook use to be the chef for the Indian Navy.

Hole in the wall, adorable lady still cooking and selling via take out. Had samosas. Delicious. Wish I had had time for other dishes, but I was in a rush and she was ready with my change when I got there to pick up the order.

Excellent takeout! Ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, eggplant dish, and okra. Everything freshly prepared and spiced perfectly. Because everything is prepared to order allow at least 30-45 min before pickup but worth the wait. Thought they must have added msg as it was so good but no headache. Bring enough cash. In east Oakland so take precautions.
