No people help to order , the service is terrible. They sometimes help people behind you to pick food while ignore you.

Good tasty bread & pastries. They sell Chinese bridal pastries here too.
This is the place if you like eggtarts! This is comparison of Ruby’s eggtart & Napoleon. If you like more crust, then Ruby is the one to go to. The custard is not too sweet, soft and not too eggy as well.Plenty of seats available, coffee /tea is $2-3, with option to refill for $1.Friendly folks tooAnd I enjoyed the fact that Ruby serve warm egg tarts.Highly recommend

I ordered the cake from this store every three months for the last ten years. But this time they sold me leftover cake, the cake looks ok but tasted like trash. I will not order from this store again

Visiting from Irvine and decided to stop and get some egg tarts! Better than any place I’ve tried down there, very flaky crust and the egg yolk is sweet but not too sweet!

Have been patronizing this establishment for decades, and nothing's changed. If you want authentic HK/Macau baked goods at a very reasonable price, this is it; Sheng Kee ain't the place to go? (unless you're ok paying 2X$ for so-so product). There are a couple of similar bakeries in the neighborhood, and to be fair, they're just as good. BART is a good xportation for Oakland Chinatown. Just a short 5 minute walk, but exercise Situational Awareness. There was a rash of strong-arm robberies of the elderly by cowardly types, who would be presenting themselves at Highland Hosp ER for "sudden onset, acute lead poisoning" had I been victimized. Joking aside, I usually see two Oakland's Finest OPD squad cars in Chinatown.

I had a delightful assortment of treats from Ruby King Bakery Café, including a dozen egg tarts, 6 curry beef puffs, and an 8-inch Mixed Fruit birthday cake, all totaling around $55.The standout feature of this bakery is undoubtedly their superbly crafted, flaky pastries. The real star of the show was the Mixed Fruit birthday cake. If you find traditional store-bought birthday cakes overly sweet, Ruby King Bakery Café offers a perfect alternative. The sponge of the cake was exceptionally soft, and the overall sweetness was just right—not overpowering. The combination of great value and high quality makes Ruby King Bakery Café a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts. I highly recommend it, especially if you prefer a more balanced and less sugary birthday cake experience.*Tip: I placed a phone call to order the birthday cake two days in advance, though it seems they also have ready-to-go birthday cakes available in-store.

Very nice flaky pastries. Had a curry beef puff, chicken pie and coconut twist. The fillings for the savory stuff were actually quite sweet, which balanced out the pastry which isn’t very sweet at all. Made the mistake of eating the coconut twist in my office, which spread crumbs all over the place. Would recommend eating outside because it’s so flaky.Would love to try the Dan tat next time — they sold out by the time I came!
