Vien Huong Restaurant Reviews
Just know this - #21 dry with thick egg noodles. Their pickled green peppers are amazing and pairs perfectly with the noodles. Best noodle spot and has been for the past 40 years.
I try a different soup but still this is my number one soup. 😋
A mandatory stop for anyone who wants to experience Oakland Chinatown food. So good.

Vien Huong Restaurant in Oakland Chinatown is a hidden gem for those who enjoy savory Asian breakfast dishes. Despite its modest exterior, the interior is clean and authentic, creating a welcoming atmosphere. This Chinese-Vietnamese noodle house offers a variety of dishes, including the popular Hu Tieu, which features clear, savory pork broth, tender liver, and chewy rice noodles. Many customers find the food flavorful and reasonably priced, although some dishes can be a bit expensive. The restaurant is cash-only, and it can get crowded, especially during lunchtime, but the staff work quickly to serve customers. The menu includes customizable noodle soups, and dishes like the Number 1 and Trieu Chow noodles are particularly praised for their authenticity and delicious taste. Visitors often start their day with a bowl of Hu Tieu and a strong iced coffee, making it a great spot for a hearty breakfast or lunch in Oakland Chinatown. Parking may be challenging, as only metered street parking is available, but the authentic flavors and friendly atmosphere make it worth the effort. The restaurant is known for its thin egg noodles and homemade chili satay sauce, adding to the unique dining experience.
