“The soba is a traditional dish passed along by its caretaker where every proprietor keeps the traditions as strict as possible without tainted biased towards one technique or another ingredient. This truer the product is to the labor and ingredients the more authentic the quality is. We as customers and consumers are just passersby’s to witness the current iteration as it’s peak of existence.“

“Good food. Standard Chinatown-feel type restaurant. About 4 big tables inside and a bit more seating outside. We had 7 people in our group and sat inside, only 1 other table during 11am weekend morning (it was a hot day for noodles).
Street noodles were the best?
Would come back“

“I love Pho Vy! The environment is always very friendly and welcoming. Mom and pop shop located in Little Saigon. They have off menu items along with their variety of goodies on existing menu. My go to’s is their bun bo hue, bun rieu, bo kho, rice plates and all of their appetizers. Always a supporter of local mom and pop shops.“

“For those keen on savory Asian breakfast, this Chinese-Vietnamese noodle house in Oakland Chinatown is unbeatable. Though a bit divvy from the outside, the dining room is tidy and the atmosphere authentic — complete with wontons being handmade from the back table.#20. Cambodian Ho Fun: cooked-to-perfection, chewy rice noodles served in light, clean-tasting broth. Topped with pork slices, hand-cut ground pork, shrimp, fish balls and kidney. Garnish to taste with chili sauce and oil, hoisin, and jalapeño vinegar. Personal preference to leave the broth unadulterated (perfect as is!) while making a dipping sauce for the yummy soup toppings. An Oakland gem.“

“My boyfriend and I came in today after school to place a to-go order. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with open arms they were quick to take our order and the food came out pretty fast. We had the Special Beef noodle soup. It was AMAZING!! the beef was so tender and so flavorful. ( I’m a picky eater so the Bok choy wasn’t my favorite but that was a easy fix but simply not eating it lol) 10/10 Will be coming here very often! ( I added a bit of hotsauce)“

“Excellent food and service. Very nice and the food was delicious, savory, and properly spicy. The vegetarian options are also really nice and very flavorful. There’s something for everyone here!
The food is very authentic, so don’t order anything spicy if you can’t handle a lot of spice!
Vegetarian options: Cold sesame noodle, tomato egg noodles, veggie chow mien, and numerous veggie appetizers and a vegetarian section for regular dishes with tofu and veggies.“

“Pho was great! Order was ready quickly compared to another spot I had tried to order from. I love having the option to select beef broth with my veggie pho! The soft fried tofu in the veggie pho was so good!! The grilled shrimp and pork spring rolls were delish too! Will definitely be back - nice to have so close to my home!“

“Cool place (love the decor/style), nice staff & tasty food. Some dishes you will not find in the average Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. For example, the chef or owner is from northern Thailand so the menu features a top Northern Thai dish - Kao Soi noodle soup (beef or chicken), or the all time fav 'street food' grilled pork skewers (moo ping) served with sticky rice (ck out the menu on their website). I had the Pad Kemao Chicken (menu says beef but they are happy to make dishes with what you like & even have Beyond Meat dishes on the menu - cool to see stir fried basil with Beyond Meat (Krapao Beyond Neur)). The taste of my wok fried pad kemao was delicious, same or better than any I've had on prior trips to Bangkok. Glad to have discovered a solid Thai restaurant that doesn't have watered down flavors. Good to see they have a lot of gluten free and vegan choices on the menu too. Definitely will be back, keep up the good work!“

“Their pho combo is great for introducing someone to tripe and tendons or for converting someone that typically hates it. It seems cleaner there or that they trim off the less enjoyable parts. The soup is aromatic, not greasy and clear.
Rice plates and rolls are great.
GET THE PANDAN WAFFLE.
They also have a Street Fighter 2 cabinet.“

“Fantastic food in Oakland's Chinatown. Handmade noodles and expansive menu - there's something for everyone. Attentive service and food came out really fast.
Small seating area and expect at least a short wait on the weekends. Great for groups of 2-6 people.
Not the most kid friendly place, but they aren't discouraged.
Parking: Parking can be difficult to find directly on the street - give yourself a few extra minutes.“

“Had the BBQ chicken sandwich...it rocked! I am on the road a lot and need my lunches to carry me through to my late dinner. Not only was I full, but the made-to-order BBQ chicken was delicious... The balance of sweet spicy and their spread, wow!“

“Great food and vegan friendly by default (no egg and dairy, yes peanut sauce though if you're allergic) for both soup and stir fry sauce.
Tons of tofu options (fried tofu, tofu sheets, tofu curds, soft porous tofu for soup bases)

“This place is fantastic. The food was incredible and was exactly what you want when you think to yourself “I want some dumplings”. We had the chicken and pork xiao long bao, Brussel sprouts, green onion pancakes, ginger and scallion noodles, bbq pork steamed dumplings, and siu mai. Of course had to finish it off with sesame balls which were amazing. Everything was superb and came out piping hot. Service was unbelievably fast. Our server forgot our tea and the dipping vinegar but when I mentioned it, it was quickly remedied. I highly recommend stopping in!!“

“I had the dry Guilin rice noodle with beef brisket and it was really tasty and refreshing. You can also upsize for $1 and take the remaining home. Great quality rice noodles and staff were friendly and spoke great English. They take credit card as well. Definitely a cool small local spot to try out!!“

“We went when they opened at 4 pm on a Saturday after a show. Not only were they opened, but they seated us promptly. This is a nicely laid-out restaurant in the Rockridge area. They have a large vegan menu, and the food is authentic. I bit on the higher side but likely comparable to the neighborhood.
Vegetarian options: They have a large vegan selection with choices of "beef", "chicken", and "pork belly". You can't go wrong with any of them.“

“Very nice and welcoming staff!Ordered takeout on a slow night and felt very calm while waiting for my food.I had the pad see ew with pork and the spicy basil with chicken. Good amount of spice for me with an average spice tolerance palette. Lasted me two meals!“

“The praram sauce was delicious. They made the sauce vegetarian on request and it was absolutely delicious despite a modification. The veggies in the praram vegetables dish were cooked to perfection as well. Waiting for next visit 🤤
Vegetarian options: Truly vegetarian alternatives on request. At a lot of places the vegetarian swaps taste fishy (pun unintended). No such thing here, their vegetarian dishes are truly free from meat/fish. Thank u Pagarung 🙏“

“Haven't been to Chai Thai Noodle for a while, way before the pandemic. Probably 5-6 years, sister said they have $5 happy hour noodles samplers (4 kinds of noodles- see photos for the specials).I suggested order 2 different bowls of noodles per person if you're hungry, that's only $10! The boat noodles were our favorites.“

“Honestly, this restaurant was perfect! Even the design was so nice and modern, and it also has a TV screen that will make your entire day so chill and entertaining. The foods and the drinks they also served taste very good and yummy. Eventually, I greatly loved my first visit here. It was all satisfying and worth it. Also, with the nice accommodation of the waiter that served my order, I felt very lively and overwhelmed. Thank you so much! Till next time!“

“Had fried calamari, which was good and plentiful, and dumplings in a spicy (not actually very spicy) sauce which was quite flavorful. Table next to me had two rambunctious children which always irritates me.
Parking: Parking on the street is free on weekends“

“The food is SO good here! I've had the #2 and the #36, and both were amazing (and all the appetizers and side dishes are good that I've tried). I'm going to keep trying different dishes each visit, and I doubt I'll be disappointed.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and nice, with beautiful lighting and plants lining the walls. The staff is pleasant and the food always comes out relatively quickly. I've been here multiple times and I can see myself coming back for more.“
“If you like the predecessor of 8th St Cafe, called D&A cafe at the corner of Webster st cross 7th st 20 years ago, you would love this Hay Yue restaurant.I came for dinner today. The dishes are $20-$25 each, not too bad considering minimum wage is $16 an hour. If you want to enter value mode, you can get $39.99 for 3 dishes in smaller portions. The bamboo lamb brisket in clay pot is as delicious as you would expect. The one in my photo is a small portion version. A lot of lamb, very generous.Scrambled egg with prawns is a Hong Kong classic dish and this restaurant cooked it very well. The eggs are creamy as it should be. You can compare it with scrambled egg with bitter melons, which is another style that cooked the eggs a bit more. I like the creamy one more. This restaurant cooked these two dishes in two different styles that they should be, very good job here.If you like spicy food, you can give sichuan stir-fried chicken a try. It is surprisingly spicy enough to taste good. They have some customizations for clay pot rice which are not shown in the menu. For example, we can order a larger size of chicken pot rice with added preserved meat. I am not fond of pot rice in general, but they are very popular in this restaurant. People started ordering them at around 10:30 am!You will not be disappointed with the milk tea with condensed milk as well.Hay Yue restaurant is definitely a strong character in chinatown that you should put it on top of your taste menu, especially now other good ones were folded or gone.“

“Missing the Daly City branch. I'm so glad my favorite pho place is in east bay now. Beef stew is my go to lots of meat. For the way pho restaurants charge nowadays I would say this place is fairly priced. No automatic gratuity. Nice parking space. Really must try“

“This is my new favorite location. I usually go to Alameda, but the Oakland location is my new favorite! The staff are always friendly! My lemon pepper wings are ALWAYS on point. They have had one mess up with my order once, but they immediately provided GREAT customer service and resolved the issue immediately. They are my go-to spot for when I want to treat myself to lunch, and I don't eat out at many places ever since covid. They are a well trusted business and no issues or complaints! Try their lemon pepper wings and strawberry lemonade! Their garlic noodles and house rice are good as well.“
