“I have tried this restaurant when they first opened and visited few times after that, enjoyed it every time.

We visited again today with our hiking group with someone who knows how to ordered with a group setting, we ordered half Hainan Chicken, half House Special Duck, two bowls of Hainan Steamed Rice, two bowls of Rice Noodles in Chicken Broth and one of their House Special Fried Tofu.

There was five of us in our group and we have left over enough for one more person to take home.

The price was beyond reasonable, it costed less than going to Fast Food chains.

Everything tasted fresh & delicious, especially their Hainan Chicken, I would say is the BEST in the Bay Area.

Service was attentive, the food came out fast, they were 90% full when we were there.

The dining area is clean even the restroom, keep in mind this is a family operated establishment, but is kept in a very professional manner.

Since retiring from owned & operated restaurants my whole life, I felt compelled to give them a Review that they so well deserved.

“First time trying Laka! I was really craving Hainan chicken, so I ordered half a roasted pork and half a Hainan chicken to go. Overall, the food was really good, and I’ll definitely be back! The gentleman who carved the roasted pork was also very kind, which I appreciated.

Just a heads-up for first-timers: the minimum order for roasted pork is half a pound, so you can’t order just a quarter pound. ( in case u try to order for 1 )

My only real complaint is the ginger sauce. For half a chicken, they only provided one container, which I felt wasn’t enough. When I asked for an extra one, I was told it would cost $1. Honestly, I think 50 cents would be more reasonable for a small container of sauce, especially when you’re already ordering a meal to go. I had also left a tip on my takeout order, so being charged another dollar for extra ginger sauce felt a little disappointing.

The food is delicious, and the service was kind for the butcher, the lady could have been more kinder but I wish they were a little more generous with the ginger sauce or included at least two containers with half a chicken. It’s a small detail, but it would make the takeout experience so much better! Total cost $32 takeout“

ordered the duck and mushroom soup, pan fried buns, and their combo D which included wonton soup and noodles with peanut sauce

duck and mushroom soup was the worst thing we ordered. $10 for a tiny pot the height of a toilet paper roll, but narrower and with thick walls. would recommend to those who like stringy and still half dried mushrooms.

the pan fried buns were good, though they were on the oilier side. very fragrant, and tasted delicious with their vinegar.

the wonton soup was the best out of everything ordered and tasted quite delicious, but the wontons themselves were low quality—they were small, which is fine, but the filling tasted like fish balls and not actual meat.

the noodles were a bit disappointing. they were soggy and the sauce was probably something you could make at home with peanut butter, soy sauce, and sesame oil. their menu says that the pictures are for reference only, and that's very true. the noodles looked completely different from the picture on their menu, whether it was portion size, color, or even noodle shape.

they had complimentary side dishes and the spicy tofu skin was great. nobody told us they were available, though, and we found out when we were going to use the restroom.

“We had a wonderful experience the staff was friendly and the food was amazing. It was our first time having dumplings and they were so good we had the soup dumplings and the pork with Napa cabbage they were juicy inside and the outside was slightly chewy. We also had the chicken chow mein which my husband devoured the noodles were soft and chewy pretty sure they were hand made and you can taste it. I’m sad we don’t live closer we would be eating here often. We were in town for the weekend and wanted a new experience and we definitely had one at this family owned restaurant. “I’m not usually in the San Mateo area, but I happened to be nearby with a friend for some tech-related work and decided to place an online order from Udon Mugizo for the first time. It was a Saturday and the restaurant was clearly very busy, so I expected the pickup to take a while, but everything was ready smoothly and the person who helped me, possibly the manager, was genuinely kind and attentive even with so much going on. I was honestly impressed by the quality of the food too. Everything tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and much better than I normally expect from an online order. The whole experience, from the pickup service to the food itself, was excellent. I don’t come to this area often, but I would definitely order from here again the next time I’m nearby“

“Waited approximately one hour to be seated. Spoiker: it was well worth that wait. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and pork buns. I can't decide which part was better, the noodles or the broth! The pork buns were priced just right at $8 for 2. Some of the best I've had. You are all so lucky to have such a wonderful ramen bar in your community. I am from Maine and will be sure to stop by this establishment every chance I get once I am in town.“

“I had eaten at this Peking-style cuisine before when I was in the Bay Area, and this time I came back after they had moved to a bigger location. The owner is quite young, but you can tell he really cares about the food and the customers. He was very patient and explained the dishes to us in detail.

What impressed me most is that the food feels very authentic. The owner told us that his father started cooking at a very young age in China, and many of the dishes here are based on his father’s long-time recipes and experience. You can really taste that kind of traditional Beijing flavor.

Their smoked chicken is definitely one of the signature dishes. It is not something you can easily find at many other restaurants, and it was very well done, flavorful but not too salty. The owner said they specially source smaller young chickens from a farm for this dish, and it is a recipe his father has been making for many years. I highly recommend trying it.

The pork trotters were also excellent — fresh, tender, and not overly salty. The lamb dishes and other Beijing-style dishes were very solid as well. Overall, I feel like this is the kind of place where it is hard to order wrong if you like authentic northern Chinese or Beijing food.

The location is not super obvious from the outside, but they have parking in the lot, so that makes things much easier. It also feels like many customers are regulars who already know this place.“

“This has been my all time favorite Vietnamese restaurant for years and then we stopped going for a long time since we don't eat out as much anymore. I drove by this place last week and remembered how good the food is so I came back today to get dinner since I was craving the vermicelli and grilled pork. My daughter finally likes Vietnamese food so it was a pleasure to get the Bun and watch her devour it.
I ordered the food through doordash for in store pickup. When I went to pick my order of grilled pork Bun with imperial rolls and 5 spice chicken rice plate there was only one other person in the restaurant at 2.30 in the afternoon. I've been here before st prime time when we've had to wait for a table.
We will definitely come back again for that in restaurant experience soon.“

“Street parking can be hard but we were lucky to find one not too far away.

It was busy on a Saturday evening with what seems like a lot of regulars. We were a party of 5 and they sat us at a table for 4 and added a chair on the end. Once we ordered, they moved us to a big table. We ordered way too much for 5 people. Ending up taking a lot home.

Everything was very good. Except the veggie was a little too tough/mature. And the mixed mushroom with egg tofu was not mixed mushroom but only one type of mushroom. The egg tofu was very good with the broccoli.

The bbq pork with chicken appetizer was good too. The bbq pork was so juicy and flavorful.

Portions here are very big and prices are reasonable.“
