Incredible food. Every. single. time. Super flavorful, great ingredients and just made with so much love (you can taste it). The plantains are always so ripe and sweet. They have wonderful service and a nice outdoor space to dine as a different option to sitting inside. My favorite is the fried goat with rice+beans and sweet plantains. The griot is amazing too. And so is their sorrel drink. There’s really nothing but great things to say about this family run business. For folks with allergies or dietary restrictions - they have plenty of options too. I am GF. I love how mindful they are. I’m rooting for their success and cannot recommended it more! ??❤️

Excellent vegetarian lentil option so you can eat here if you’re not a carnivore! Had a great meal here during a game dev hackathon at the next door made museum ? and the food atmosphere and service is just great.
I went to school reading edwidge danticat, hung out with my Haitian American classmates and have been to Haitian parties but all of that in New York, like most Caribbean immigrant culture. The interior is so beautiful and makes me want to reread edwige danticat again. It’s super “weird” Haiti is popping up in the news again though with Americans who would never read a poem or find Haiti on a map. Let’s hope this place remains for many years to come!!!

It pains my soul to have to leave a bad review for a black owned business. I paid $25 for a meager plate and food was cold. The chicken was cold and not flavorful. The rice was bland. The plantain and slaw was the best thing going. I am not happy at all. I could have went to Nola’s and got a better plate of food. Their portions on their Google page is full of rice and really that’s what attracted me. I’m sorely disappointed. Then to top it off I asked for pepper sauce and she wanted yo charge 50 cents. I replied, after I just spent $25? She goes on to say…yes, because we already put it on your food. However, the decor was nice. Seems they spend more time on atmosphere than customer service or proper portions. I wouldn’t recommend. There are plenty of other Caribbean spots that aren’t stingy on staple foods. Ridiculous. I see why there were only three patrons. The rice should have filled up the plate under the cold chicken.

T'Chaka: A Taste of Haiti is a hidden gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Haiti to life. Nestled in a warm and inviting space, the restaurant's soul truly shines through in its food, which is a delightful fusion of traditional Haitian spices and fresh ingredients. The dishes, from the savory griot to the delectable plantains, are packed with rich, authentic flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Haiti.
What makes T'Chaka truly special, however, is its owner, Frantz. His passion for his culture and his food is evident in every plate that leaves the kitchen. Frantz is more than just a host who makes you feel like part of the family. His hospitality, along with his deep knowledge of Haitian cuisine, creates an atmosphere that’s as warm as the Caribbean sun.
Whether you're a seasoned fan of Haitian food or experiencing it for the first time, T'Chaka: A Taste of Haiti offers a culinary journey worth taking. Highly recommended for anyone seeking flavorful, comforting dishes served with a personal touch.

In Oakland for one night on business. Was looking for restaurants and figured with everything the Haitian community has gone through lately, business support would be appreciated. I want disappointed. Had the griot which was delicious on it's own. Pro-tip: ask for the scotch bonnet habanero hot sauce to go with it. Absolute bomb. Super friendly staff.

Every summer, my family and I travel multiple states in USA, if we are not overseas, with the goal of visiting all the states. Being Haitian, one thing I always do, is to check if there is a Haitian restaurant near by in the major cities of that particular state. Back in August 2024, while dropping off my daughter at her University, we also took the time to visit some of the major cities in California. As usual, I search for a Haitian restaurant near San Francisco. I found two, one in downtown right across the city hall. As I was talking to the gentleman about me always looking for Haitian restaurant, he told about one in Oakland. I ended going there with my wife the next day, boys he was right. The food, service, atmosphere, they all were great. Among all the one that I have been to, this one and another one that I went to in Chicago are top of my list. I Strongly encourage, anyone passing by to pay them a visit, you will not regret it.

Saw the excellent reviews and decided to stop in for a late lunch. The staff was very welcoming and service was on point. Sat on the patio to enjoy the nice weather and people watch. Ordered the Creole Oxtail Plate with a pineapple juice, and WOW! Slow cooked, fall off the bones with a medium spice was absolutely perfect. I loved the sauce with the rice and beans, and the side of pickled slaw and fried plantains balanced everything out. This plate was packed with so much flavor!
I ate it all and will be coming back for brunch to try their salted codfish dish!! Thank you for a wonderful first time Haitian dining experience!!

The tchaka stew bowl with pork was absolutely incredible. So rich in flavor that you could tell this has been cooking all day.
Oxtails and wings also cooked perfectly. Loved the spicy slaw on top of the wings.
We didn’t have any cocktails but they had a good list with a cute little patio as well. Good service and will be back
