I grew up going to El Toreo in Palmdale from the late '90s through the early 2000s, and it's still the best Mexican food I've ever had. I spent 10 years in the Army and another 10 driving trucks, so I've been to just about every state and tried Mexican food everywhere. Arizona comes closest in second place, Colorado a distant third. El Toreo West is a hidden gem offering great Mexican food in large portions. The service is excellent, with attentive staff who make guests feel like family. The bartender makes fantastic Cadillac Margaritas, and the shredded chicken tacos and bean and cheese burritos are fabulous. While some dishes like the rice can be overcooked or hard, the staff, especially Gustavo, always work to make things right and ensure customers are satisfied. This local favorite has been serving the community for decades and is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, making it a go-to spot for affordable Mexican food and margaritas.
