I really enjoyed my pasta here; it was quite soft, and the Bolognese sauce was solid. No wait at all, and the waiter was pretty attentive. One small suggestion: if you're going to bring out Parmesan cheese, a heaping bowl sort of undercuts its elegance compared to fresh grated. I don't really think it tastes different, personally, but Rivera seems to attract the kind of people who will care.
In Redondo Beach from West Hollywood for a quick change of scenery, and found this gem via a local recommendation. Wow! They make their own pasta, and it shows.The lasagna and branzino were excellent—do not skip the potatoes on the plate, they are a sleeper hit! The calamari is light, tender, and served with a unique mustardy sauce, while the lamb shank falls off the bone and comes with potatoes and vegetables. Service is friendly and attentive, with knowledgeable staff who can recommend wine pairings. The owner, chef, and staff take time to connect with guests, adding a warm touch to the lively atmosphere. The open wall facing the street is complemented by a large tree with lights, creating a cozy, inviting ambiance reminiscent of Italy or West Hollywood.
