We loved the experience. The chef was very skilled and explained the ingredients throughout the meal, which made it even more special. The service was excellent, and the servers were wonderful and attentive. The fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a great experience, and we truly enjoyed it.

Sushi Kinsen offers an exceptional Ginza-style omakase experience in Downtown Redwood City. The serene, hinoki-appointed waiting room transports guests before the meal even begins. The multi-course progression is a masterpiece of meticulous execution, precise temperature controls, and technical artistry. The meal starts with a refreshing glass of mozuku seaweed, followed by pristine sashimi highlighting sweet, crunchy tsubugai and perfectly sliced white fish, along with deeply sweet botan ebi. Luxury ingredients include a Hokkaido Kegani course paired with premium Shiro Uni, and an Awabi sequence moving from clear dashi broth soup into a decadent abalone liver kimo sauce over warm shari. Hot courses like crispy mehikari with fresh lime provide excellent texture contrast before the nigiri. The Akami nigiri is perfectly structured, the shiromi nigiri features flawless scoring, and the anago is a true pinnacle of craftsmanship with deep smokiness of binchotan, sansho pepper, and a subtle hint of salt. The velvety uni chawanmushi is pure comfort, and the Daisen Uni is a surprising inclusion. A bottle of Kuroushi 2025 Junmai Ginjo sake complements the richer cuts perfectly. Dessert includes fresh seasonal fruit and a crispy Monaka ice cream sandwich with homemade coconut ice cream. The service is warm and highly attentive without feeling stuffy. The chef is skilled, knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating, explaining ingredients and techniques throughout. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious, courses are paced very well, and the quantity of food given the extremely high quality impresses. This is easily worth the cost of admission and the best meal of many guests' lives.
