Raul's Striper Cafe offers the best breakfast, with the Huevos rancheros being highly recommended. The cozy and laid-back ambiance complements the fast and friendly service. The cafe provides good food with a large menu at comparable prices, making it a go-to spot for both breakfast and lunch. Customers appreciate the consistent quality and friendly service, making them eager to return.
The small-town cafe has a solid understanding of what makes an omelet worthwhile - the fillings. The ambiance is unpretentious, even faded. The omelet is stuffed with fillings that taste as they should. The hashbrowns are average, but the biscuit is quite good.
Despite its odd name, this old-school diner has a solid breakfast menu. Located in downtown Rio Vista, it's a two-room restaurant with booths on the right and tables on the left. The chicken fried steak covered in gravy is tender and enjoyed by the customers. The chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and green sauce are delicious and filling, with the chips tasting like Fritos without the extra salt, topped with queso cheese. The coffee is tasty and served in cute branded coffee cups. The decor includes a "stuffed" striped bass and stingray among photos of Marilyn Monroe. The service is pleasant but a little slow, with no seconds on coffee until requested, and the table not cleared when customers arrived.
This unpretentious, somewhat faded diner obviously has a core clientele of enthusiastic regulars. The service is really nice even for non-regulars. The approach to an omelet is unique, treating the egg part like a taco shell, keeping it thin and neatly folded over a generous amount of filling. The result is a "meat lovers" type omelet that includes both linguica and actual ham. The hashbrowns are well-intentioned, and the biscuit is really nice. Someone in the kitchen seems to take pride in making a fairly standard diner menu come out well. While not a destination in itself, it's a very good bet for a casual sit-down spot in the Rio Vista area.
