“Came here for the first time last Friday. I'm surprised this place wasn't slammed packed. The atmosphere, the food, the service, music and cleanliness was 10/10. I made a reservation but didn't need it. My friend and I sat at the bar. Our bartender was Amanda. She was fun, friendly and makes amazing drinks! I initially came here because I am a sucker for a Happy Hour and this place did not disappoint! EXTENSIVE menu, nice portions, and the HH timeframe is convenient unlike other places. I would recommend this for a datenight or a girls night out for sure! Ask for Amanda!“

“The Nook is an absolute gem in East Sac. The wines are unusual and very well-curated - we've loved everything we've tried there so far. The servers are always friendly and knowledgeable. But the standout at this place is the FOOD!! We've tried almost everything on the menu, and every single dish is incredible. This place is turning out food that's as good (or better than) the best restaurants in Sac or even SF. I love that they offer half-glasses of wine (as well as tasting flights), and they also have a great beer selection. I can't recommend The Nook highly enough!“

Midtown Lounge Lounges • $
1111 24th St #102, Sacramento

“Interesting and offbeat. Lots of varied seating options. Cozy crowd of regulars. Vast cider, beer, ale on tap, rotated frequently. Pleasant and hip owners…we met Susan on our first visit. Gina, beloved Thursday bartender letting go of her gig here to focus on her day job. We went there August 15 to be part of the “WNBA watch party” (Brittney Griner on a bigger screen) and there’s also Trivia @ 7 on Thursdays. Friendly and casual! Great for when you just want to be comfortable and relaxed with very simple menu such as grilled cheese on the cheap. We will go again! I will post photos next time! Good place to unwind!

Vegetarian options: My vegetarian spouse has a hard time around time—but not here!“

WHIRED Wine Window Wine Bar • $$
1121 L St, Sacramento

“This place is awesome! It is a walk-up wine bar that serves wine (both by glass & bottle) as well as beer and sparkling water, along with an array of snacks, such as flatbread pizzas, charcuterie plates, and paninis. The “showstopper” of this business is the setting on the patio of the historic Senator Building, built in 1924 in the Italian Renaissance style and included on the National Register of Historic Places. The Corinthian columns along the palazzo are to die for! It’s a wonderful place for a post-work mixer or happy hour. Highly recommended!“

“Ate in and the food was decent. Got a to go order for my family member and it has zero sauce and was obviously rushed and thrown together lazily. The to-go should at least resemble the dine in food. The exact same roll ended up looking like crap and had no sauce at all. What a bummer..when you pay a premium for sushi you should get decent sushi. This was crap and I can't believe they served it to us after we had just spent a bunch of money eating in. We won't be back. If getting to go, check your food. They do not care about the customer and will sneak awful rolls into your bag without care.“
