The venue is unique and the beers are good. The brisket and the half spicy Hawaiian chicken were good but not something I'd make a special trip for. Both of them came out cold as well. The collards were surprisingly good. I'd definitely try them out again and try something else on the menu.

This is a really neat little place. One side of the room smells like beer and the other side smells like smoke. As far as California standards go, the brisket I got was definitely on the higher end of the spectrum. Maybe this is heresy, but I loved the chimichurri sauce, and might have put some on my brisket.
Urban Roots is actually a pretty great place to stop and grab some bbq. They have quite a few options for food to choose from. However, they have a slew of beer and craft beer to choose from while you’re there. They have an upbeat and clean eating environment. You can even eat outside under a canvas roof. This location is tucked away, but if you can make it, it’s worth the visit.

This place is awesome! My husband and I hobbled in the day after racing Ironman California and it was exactly what we needed. Super kind staff, AMAZING food, and great outdoor patio. Also always appreciate well marked gluten free options. 😊

Service was quick and pleasant. I really liked the places it was spacious, breezy, easy going, not to loud, not to quiet, had plenty of seating, and friendly.
We got the smoked tri tip and the pork ribs. The tri tip was really good, but the pork ribs, a bit dry and not really a typical smoked rib as it didn't have a nice pull from the bone, it was dry, and the flavor was not the best. The salad was okay, their version of Elote was decent, but definitely not great. Overall I do recommend a place to eat and hangout.

Best BBQ I've had, hands down. Ordered the pulled pork with cornbread and collared greens. It was all phenomenal!
Of note, some things were a little too spicy for me, but I'm a wimp when it comes to heat. Traditional sauce little too hot but still tasty. Pickle also had a heat to it that I didn't vibe with.
I also ordered the vinaigrette with my salad and found it lacking and very mild. Partner stuck with the ranch and found it a good balance with the spiciness of the food, so aim to get that next time.
If it looks too packed, head inside: there were SO many tables!
Definitely will be returning.

The place is large, has indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly for outside seating. I ordered to-go for lunch on a Thursday. The wait was a bit longer than I expected since they had just opened for the day.
The self serve sauce bar makes me uneasy, from a hygiene perspective. Anyone can contaminate the whole batch should they open the lid and talk, spit or do whatever else they want to it. I know it’s easy to do it this way, but you never know with people these days.
Ordered the brisket and pulled pork sandwich, came to about $60. I would go back for the food, however it is overpriced.
The beer selection looks really good. There’s also a small wine selection as well.
12:30 on a Monday and still a great vibe, food does not disappoint!

Good beer and delicious food, but the service is disappointing. You have to tip upfront, and yet no one checks on you. We got two plates with only one set of silverware and had to go back inside to grab more ourselves. Great food, but very poor service.
