Read this - honest review from a visitor.

We are in town for a few days. Today (Sunday) a conference began and Gaslamp is PACKED. Every restaurant on fifth street is bustling.

We head to Blarneystone and it’s almost completely empty. There are two tables seated. That should have been our red flag - but we went in.

The building shares space with the Thai restaurant next door (this is important later). We sit down, and when the bartender comes, she’s - no joke, an 85-90 year old Thai woman…..in an Irish pub.

We ask for food menus. She hands us a menu with about half a dozen American/Irish items. Then she hands us an eight page Thai menu. “It’s right next door! Very good. Very fast,” she proclaims. I’m sure it is good - but I went in for pub fare, not Thai. This is beyond weird.

We pass on food. I order a car bomb, wife orders a pint of Guinness. I receive the most stingy car bomb in history. I get less than a half glass of Guinness, a fine shot of whiskey, topped with Irish crème. The bill is $30 for the two drinks. $17 for the car bomb, and $13 for the pint! A pint of Guinness anywhere else on fifth street is $7.

We finished our round, paid, and ran out. I think it’s obvious the Thai restaurant owner bought out the pub and is trying to run both. It’s not working.

The inside vibe is OK. However, it’s not nearly enough to save this place. Stay away.

Throw you out before bar time. Very rude. Run out of most alcohol before the end of the night. Dont go.

I go here often. The bartender is always great. I only give it four stars because of the atmosphere. It's not exactly an irish pub as much as it is a bar. Great place overall though.

It has been a few years since I’ve been to this establishment. It was one of my favorites and I was so looking forward to have the opportunity to come back. Will, it sure ain’t the same ….

A very slim choice of Irish food items on the menu with many pages of Thai food on the menu.

I was looking for the Scottish Eggs and Guinness braised beef tips that were so good.

I was looking for a fun-filled atmosphere with a Padres game in town, but I was the only one in the place.

It felt quite out of place to be listening to Irish Music while choosing from a Thai food menu. But no worries, the bartender staff changed while I was drinking my beer (which was all I had) and the music changed to rap.

Our drinks came with no alcohol. We ordered two beers on tap at $14 each and two well drinks at $14 each but the well drinks had zero alcohol. We thought it was suspicious that she walked all the way back to the bar out of sight to make our drinks. When we got them we noticed there was no alcohol flavor at all. Our bartender was a blonde with glasses. I confronted her in a nice way and said our drinks don’t have alcohol. She smelled the drink look irritated and grabbed the Bacardi bottle and poured half a shot. She took my Moscow mule to the back and came back with a cup the looked topped off. I don’t recommend this place at all! Don’t waste your money or time. We should have known when we saw the entire place was empty. There’s tons of other places to go.

Good atmosphere, fun place to get a drink with friends. The bar has a pretty good selection of drinks. Sometimes the bar could use an extra bartender if it's busy, but overall good service.
