The Busy Bee Cafe offers a clean and new dining experience. The chicken wings come with a good amount of greens, exceeding expectations. The Parmesan truffle wings are a must-try, accompanied by a delicious arugula salad. The French fries are shoestring and seasoned, and the kids cheese pizza is a hit. The veggie burger is made on-site, and the staff provides friendly and efficient service, even with large groups. The eating areas are always clean, making it an ideal spot for lunch during a visit to the zoo.

The cafe is situated inside the zoo, aligning perfectly with the zoo's theme. It's always busy, offering a variety of vegetarian meals and drinks to energize visitors during their zoo tour. While the prices may seem a bit high for vegetarian options, the portions are generous, especially for the pizza, which is much bigger than expected. The fries and ice cream servings are also quite large. The cafe is one of the few restaurants at the San Diego Zoo that offers a vegan meal, with a decent vegan burger and tasty shoestring French fries.
