Delicious meats and top notch service. You can tell Jim takes his meats very seriously and that he wants his customers to be very happy and very full. It’s also great to support a local family business.

I’ve been searching for bbq in SD that is comparable to places like Franklins, Terry Blacks, or La BBQ in Austin TX. I somehow found Jim’s Backyard BBQ on a Google search and decided to roll the dice. I ordered a half brisket (point) and it came 2 days later. Im happy to have FINALLY found legit bbq in SD.

The brisket was juicy, flavorful, fatty, and melts in your mouth. The smoked bark is densely packed with delicious deep flavors. You know it’s good when you don’t need bbq sauce. I ate most of it as is.

I would put it up there with some of Texas’s finest bbq spots. Jim knows what he is doing. A+

We ordered both styles of ribs, the pork belly burnt ends and some Texas Twinkies, it was incredibly delicious and cooked to perfection. By far best BBQ ever and Jim is super nice! Highly recommend.

We used Jim for a company catering event for 40 people, and it was a hit! We ordered chili, cornbread, and wings for the meal and it was reasonably priced and DELICIOUS! Everyone enjoyed the food and the quality was good. Jim's customer service was impeccable and he delivered on time. Thank you, Jim!

Decided to try for my brother's birthday. We ordered pulled pork, chicken, corn muffins,coleslaw and potato salad. The food was better than any regular restaurant with this type of food. Pick up was as expected. The smell in my car was divine. One of the best birthday celebration meals that we have had in a long time. Thank you to Jim's Backyard BBQ for wonderful food.

I’ve used Jim’s a couple of times now to cater the entree for a couple of small events. We’ve ordered the brisket, pulled chicken, and vegan pulled pork from him, and all have exceeded our expectations. He has been great to communicate with (a bonus for the event planner in me!), and delivers on time with everything professionally wrapped up.

Literally a guy’s back yard. Almost got the sports car stuck trying to turn around. Giving him a couple stars because I didn’t get it taste anything but I’m sure it’s good.

We hired Jim to cater my mom's 70th birthday party, and I'm glad we did! The food was amazing - we selected brisket, macaroni salad, moink balls, little smokies and baked beans. The food was a huge hit, and Jim was so friendly and professional. He also brought along homemade chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious! I would definitely recommend Jim for catering your next event. We will absolutely call him again for our catering needs.

Jim is friendly and accommodating. Ordered food for my daughter’s birthday gathering and the food were super yummy. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, ribs & macaroni salad.
