A great place to get a drink or a snack before the theater. it's a bit expensive but that's what you should expect at Balboa Park. We arrived 45 minutes before the start of the play last Saturday and were delighted to discover they had created a heated patio where you could sip your drink.
We went to the 10:30 a.m. performance of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which let out right at noon. We were hungry, the lines were manageable, and the menu was reasonably priced, so we opted to eat here rather than drink to a restaurant in Bankers Hill (and inevitably have to wait).I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, and service was fairly quick. You order and they heat up/ grab your food, kind of like a cafeteria. There's plenty of outdoor seating and many with shade....read full review

Great pre-theater spot, we enjoy their wines and irish coffees. Last time we went we ordered the chicken melt, over toasted the bread to a pooint it was burnt. We should have returned but we endured. Hopefully a one time thing.
