If you're looking for a cozy atmosphere with quality live music and don't need the high energy from a typical night club, this is THE place to be. We stopped by our first night in San Diego and it was amazing. Perfect little old-time jazz club. We loved it so much we went back the next night. The musicians were even more amazing than the previous night. It's so wonderful to see musicians enjoy themselves and become so expressive with their music. Amazing

Outstanding atmosphere! I love a good speakeasy. Although this one was fairly easy to find (some have secret doors etc.) the actual speakeasy itself was delightful. Live jazz, great vibe, and seem to be filled with a lot of locals. Wonderful red lighting. And a light that came on every time a patron entered and came down the steps, just like a real speakeasy. Such fun!
However,
I was really about to write a mixture of a review until the bartender went above and beyond on something.
I had ordered a daiquiri. And I talked to the bartender about it. “Will you make a real daiquiri, fresh squeezed lime, like I get a Cuba?” He assured me that his daiquiri skills were up to par. And then we talked about the different rums, and I told him “bartender’s choice.” And when the drink came, it was wonderful and full of fresh squeezed lime, but it tasted rather off. And I thought perhaps it was just the rums that he chose, and I did not want to complain. After all, it had a lot of fresh squeezed lime in it.
I love something like cachaca, but it’s salty, so I thought perhaps he chose a rum that I did not have before and it had a bit of a chalky/coffee taste. About 15 minutes into my drink he showed up with an entirely new daiquiri for me. He said that the simple syrup had been in a container that had coffee in it, so that’s what was giving my drink a bit of a coffee taste. He totally gave me a free new drink. And it tasted… Perfect!

I really like the vibe. We sat at the bar. Best place to get good drink tips from the bartenders. Lots of hand crafted cocktails to sample from all different types of liquor. But let's be honest really keep coming back for the vibe.

Was attending a conference at the convention center. This was a perfect getaway for a cozy, warm, lounge. The band was amazing and was very engaging.
The bartender was great and customized the drink based on my preferences. The cocktails were amazing!!
It's a must visit!!

$10 cover charge. We were going to be a group of 12 and spend a lot of money here, but they insisted on charging the cover so we didn’t go inside.
There was no cover charge when we visited. The live band was great. Bar service was a bit backed up (one person working). I would visit again since the vibe and drinks were good.

Behind a door marked “Eddie O’Hare’s Law Office,” is a hidden gem in the Gaslamp District. Prohibition Lounge delivers the true speakeasy vibe. The dim lighting, vintage décor, and exceptional craft cocktails set the mood perfectly. We enjoyed the live jazz on our visit without overpowering conversation. It can get crowded and pricey, but the atmosphere is a must for jazz lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike.

Food review is based only on drinks, but they were exceptional. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and able more than able to point you in the right direction if you are indecisive. Went for live music on Saturday and there was a $10 cash only cover.

Just had an excellent time at prohibition, where boredom is the only illegal thing here. You pay a small cover of $10 per person, and enjoy a great and intimate music experience. This was on a Saturday night. A must visit location for anyone who is even slightly interested in music and/or having a great time!

They don't serve food here but they do serve excellent drinks! And they are not kidding around when they say they don't have vodka LOL. Very cool downstairs speakeasy. Excellent band tonight! No reservations required but very here before 9 if you wanna sit down.
