Reviews for Samarkand Uzbek Cafe

Wishing strength to get through these tough times and success to the owners and staff of this wonderful place! This is the only place in San Diego county that serves the food that I grew up with. This place feels like home to me, their food tastes like my mom's and their hospitality is something that I was used to since I was a kid! Keep it up, Samarkand! To those unfamiliar with Central Asian cuisine, I guarantee that this will be a great benchmark and hard to beat unless you' full review
I was walking through the neighborhood on Friday and happened to see a sign for Samarkand Uzbek Café. I couldn't believe my eyes. I had searched for a Central Asian restaurant in San Diego when I moved here three years ago and came up with nothing. I decided to get take out that night, and wasn't disappointed. I stumbled upon this place pretty randomly and was intrigued just because I had no idea what Uzbek cuisine consisted of! The waiter was so welcoming and was happy to give us his recommendations. We ordered the manti, pelmeni (the only item I had before and seemed to be a new menu item as it wasn't on the menu pictures on the other yelp reviews) chicken lula, lamb lula, and the beef lagman. They also brought out a complementary plate of orange and pineapple slices! This full review
