One of the best restaurants in gas lamp of San Diego. Living in San Diego, we rarely have occasion to come to the area. Most restaurants are over priced tourist traps with mediocre food. You will not find that here.
This is a high quality sushi restaurant. The fish is always delicious. The omakase is quite good with interesting selections. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous, and they aim to give you the best experience.
Definitely recommend Taka sushi for locals and travelers.

We enjoyed our fabulous meal here especially the fresh and flavorful yellow tail Kama. We were grateful the attentive waitstaff offered the half portion of sashimi so we can try different selection. This restaurant is worth revisiting.

Update - was back in town, went again, and it was amazing again. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
The Spanish mackerel, blue fin tuna, uni, and even the amaebi (sweet shrimp) were terrific, among numerous other nigiri we had. ------ Outstanding! The best unagi I've ever had. Nice sake selection. We ordered numerous rolls, nigiri, and even teriyaki... Everything was superb.
If I'm ever in town again I am definitely going back!

The sushi here is incredible. Our salmon and tuna were both melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Absolutely worth the cost.

What a crazy place. Without a doubt one of the best sushi places in ALL of California. Chef TAKA serves you directly. I highly recommend sitting at the bar.

Woah! The flavor of these rolls was easily some of the best I have had, which is nuts having visited Japan. One of the gentleman at the sushi bar explained they made their rice seasonings from scratch which explains a lot.
I liked that there were lots of different kinds of salmon and tuna rolls/nigiri to choose from. I also enjoyed they had many things at different price points. Ramune and miso were also on point. This was of equal or better standards to nearby Japanese spots, and much less over hyped.

The hostess was incredibly accommodating to us bringing our son and stroller. The service staff was very receptive and the waiter made excellent recommendations for sake. The sushi was delicious, especially the toro. We would definitely come here again

Good quality rolls and sashimi. Tamago was a little "wet" but well done and a good portion. Salmon nigiri was perfect. The atmosphere is loud if you're trying to talk to people unless you get one of the few outside tables of which I would suggest. Staff was top notch..prices are high, but it is a tourist area of San Diego so within the norm for that.
