We happened to be there for an early Valentine's dinner and it was a wonderful experience. The courtyard is so lovely to sit. The food from Chef Carlo Guardado was, as always, outstandingly delicious. Service staff was very friendly and the whole ambiance was great. It was absolutely worth the drive and the money. We'll go back soon.

We have enjoyed brunch on the patio a few times prior. This time, there was no hostess with whom to check in. We were directed to check in with the desk staff, who sent us to the waitstaff to check in. It didn't seem like the restaurant was really set up to serve on the patio. We had several different servers check on us, but this made the service incongruent. We'd ask for something from one staff member and then we wouldn't get it--and then had to ask another server. The food, as always, along with the setting, was outstanding. This has so much potential, but perhaps is going through management issues.

Terrible bar with absolutely obnoxious bartenders - they’re more concerned with closing their bar as quickly as they can rather than serving clients including those as the hotel. They also have a lack of basic courtesy - there’s enough nice bars in the area you don’t need to waste your time and money here. Also as a hotel guest, I’d recommend you think of somewhere else given the level of service doesn’t belong in a 2-Star hotel. Shoutout to Ron and Sydney who were proud of their terrible service.

Was staying at the Guild Hotel here for several days and decided to grab a meal here. Very nice staff. Ordered their salmon dish and a caprese sandwich. The salmon was perfectly cooked, however, a bit under seasoned. Could definitely have used a little more salt to bring out the dish. The caprese was exactly what it was supposed to be. I would eat here again while at this hotel for the ambiance and staff alone.

The eggs were raw when I ordered medium well. The Canadian bacon was so hard I couldn't cut it. We waited about 40 minutes to get first entree. About another 40 to get fixed entree. The "fixed" entree had decent eggs but meat was even tougher. To their credit the breakfast was comped. However, the next day breakfast entree had raw egg white. Coffee was lukewarm. Maximum price for minimal quality.

In general this restaurant was okay(there are much better choices nearby with same price range). Nice atmosphere and BGM. The bar was pretty elegant, the sofa also comfortable to sit on. About the food: I ordered the salad with 5oz of Chicken breast. The leaves are salty and the chicken has no flavor at all. My husband ordered medium cooked steak. It comes with well-done and is really hard to chew. The beef did not taste fresh. The table we sit on is not stable. When my husband cuts the steak, it shakes like an earthquake happened...

The Guild Bar inside the Guild hotel is directly before you as you enter the hotel.  They have bar seating and a few tables. Everything is at bar height, which for most may not be an issue but for us shorter people getting up on those chairs can be challenging. Once you conquer that... the service leaves something to be desired. Being that the bar wasn't very busy I can't equate the service to stress... the servers each night & during multiple visits just didn't seem to be particularly interested in providing great customer service.... it was the bare minimum. On the last day as we were checking out we decided to get a bite before leaving ... this particular server was obviously not happy to be at work. As a co-worker came over to him, our server stated. "I don't want to be here" The other person said "I appreciate your honesty" and walked away. Good thing the food is pretty spot on! The flavour profiles.. the presentation... it was all outstanding. The truffle fries were the gold star winners... How delicious are they... probably could have had buckets of those fries! The food & drink at this wee hotel bar was pretty outstanding... the service needs a whole lot of work.

I recommend the margherita pizza. And the beer. Definitely the third beer was better than the first two.

We were celebrating our 40th Wedding anniversary and stayed at the Guild as part of this celebration. The Hotel is beautiful and we were given a room upgrade as well as welcoming bottle of Prosecco despite us not arriving until nearly Midnight. The staff throughout our stay were friendly and extremely helpful. We had Breakfast on our first morning and was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel not just because of this bit the location is also perfect within walking distance of all the major attractions and districts. An added bonus was that we were able to walk to Santa Fe Station to catch the train to LA. Fantastic hotel and amazing staff!

I loved everything about this hotel, location, decor, clean, it smells amazing including the room, great soaps and lotions, the staff was very nice to my dog (including treats upon arrival) great drinks at the bar, food, price. Did I say everything? I stayed at a large hotel last time I visited San Diego & was never going to come back to SD, However The Guild changed my mind. I will be back

This hotel is great in every way! The reception area is combined with the bar which has an upbeat atmosphere. The lady who checked us in was very friendly, accommodating, and offered some suggestions for things to do in San Diego. We loved our corner suite with views of the harbor! It was perfect for our one-night stay. The shower was large, bathroom amenities high quality, and just a comfortable room over all. I slept very well thanks to the fact that we heard no noise whatsoever from other guests at the hotel. This is probably the first time ever that I hadn't heard a peep from another guest from inside our room. Blissful! The bed was rather comfortable and large. The TV had Netflix and YouTube which was handy. Breakfast downstairs at the cafe was lovely! We sat in the courtyard which was both quiet and luxurious. The wait staff were pleasant and helped us with our varied dietary restrictions, even making my son a special smoothie which he loved. After a day out, we returned for our bags and had a chance to hang out on the back sofas for a while which had a laid back lounge feel. There's also an area all the way out back with additional tables and what looks like event space. All in all, it was a fantastic experience but the cherry on top were the people at the Guild who made our stay wonderful. Amazing service! Everyone was so friendly. We will definitely stay here again! Props to the amazing people working at The Guild!

Booked this last minute as our flight was cancelled from San Diego, located right in downtown. Do not recommend staying here if you are on the bottom floor, you are literally below the streets, and saw a massive spider climb across our bed as we were leaving…

I stumbled upon this hotel my last night in San Diego, after spending $500 a night at 5 star hotels. What a surprise to find a boutique hotel that is part of the Marriott collection with outstanding food and beverage, and staffing. The hotel itself was a perfect location for me, a short walk to Little Italy a short walk to the water and a short walk to the Gaslamp. From the beginning of being welcomed by Layla as a Marriott Elite member (trust me I stay at alot of Marriotts who don't seem to regard the status at all), we were upgraded to a suite that was modern and clean with everything we needed, great collection of house amenities and a cool bag of treats for my dog as well as dog bags as a welcoming gift. They charge a resort credit (which from my stay in San Diego this is common with 95% of the nicer hotels) but the great aspect of the credit is that you receive a $35 food and beverage credit at the Guild Bar. You also have complimentary bikes, and a partnership with a great fitness club next door. The Guild Bar is worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel. Had an incredible Amaro Tasting with the bar manager, Seth.... the collection of hard to find spirits behind the bar is really impressive and he made the evening spectacular, nice to see great professionals loving what they do. The bar has a neighborly and very welcoming feel and the food was outstanding. Breakfast (included for Marriott elite members) is a la carte with great baristas and a selection that I wish I could have stayed longer to try. Bonus was the short 2.5 mile walk to the airport along the water, nice way to get your morning exercise in with a day of travel ahead. I will definitely be staying at this hotel over the Pendry/IHG/Westin in the future.

Where do I begin.. we came to San Diego on a crazy crowded weekend and felt lucky to get any hotel near downtown. However, what a surprise to find the Guild. Great location, amazing customer service, cool vibe, and spacious room (if you get one of the loft rooms) and right next to the train station, Little Italy and more. Would definitely come here again over one of the more traditional downtown hotels.
