Tried this restaurant out for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff did a nice job at accommodating our large group of 12. The food and drinks were all brought out pretty quickly and regularly. The food was good but not as outstanding as I was expecting. I was also a bit shocked at the prices for their dishes. I think they charge a little too much for the quality they are serving. The portions are rather large and they also provide complimentary garlic bread (hamburger buns) before your meal. The front half of the restaurant where you first walk in felt much more cozy than the back half which is newer I'm assuming. The back area was also a bit chilly compared to the front. Random note: the women's restroom had the heater on what seemed to be full-blast and it was probably 85 degrees in there. Way too hot and uncomfortable. Hopefully it was just broken that night and has been corrected.

This place has officially jumped the shark. Went to put in an order for takeout tonight and it was $84for only two items. Most entrees are now over $30 and the quality has actually gone down. We live down the street and will no longer be eating here. They are obviously trying to hide the fact that they have raised their prices astronomically by the fact that their website menu doesn't even include prices. To each their own but you can go down the street to Cesarina or Old Venice for better quality and ambience and the same price. To each their own, but no thank you Venetian. Very disappointing.

The food, ambiance, and service are really good. Our server made sure we were taken care of. Loved the food.

Tasty food and has some good dishes that I can’t find elsewhere in the city. But, quite pricey for what you get and prices have dramatically increased lately, it seems: many dishes could be at least $10 cheaper. I want to support a local business but alas I am not sure I can go back too often! Still recommend it for once in a while.

Sashayed over to The Venetian Restaurant in Point Loma with my buxom squeeze yesterday evening for a celebratory Valentine's Day feast. The iconic Italia slop joint was firing on all cylinders providing a next level dining experience. Space is smart, roomy, & hip with a lively bar, plenty of high tops and comfortable booths. Quinn & his team generously provide attentive, efficient & professional service. The pacing of courses is excellent. Cocktails are tasty & strong. The cuisine is oh so savory and abundant. Calamari, salads, pastas, dessert all hit the mark filling us to the brim. I can heartily recommend this outstanding establishment for a romantic supper and great time. Stoner Grub Rank: 8.5

My girlfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day, and had high hopes but unfortunately did not have a great experience :( Full disclosure we were late to our reservation and called to let them know and were told there would be a note added and it would be fine. However, once we arrived they said the reservation was cancelled... but still seated us quickly as they had a few tables open. We ordered wine, calamari, and our 2 entrees right away as we had a show to get to in 1.5 hours (we thought this would be plenty of time but maybe that was unrealistic on Valentine's Day). Wine and calamari came out within 10 min which was great!! But then we were waiting and waiting and waiting for literally 70-80 minutes and heard nothing about our entrees. We had to flag down a server to grab the check and ask for our meals to be served to go. We attended our show at 8PM and had to wait until after to eat our food, which was honestly not worth the amount of money spent. I ordered the chicken parm and it was served with plain box boiled penne, and one thin chicken breast for almost $30. I really wish I had a pic but I scarfed it down so fast as I was starving after the show. Giving it 2 stars because the staff was super accommodating with us being late and our server was super nice, just really busy. I think there are some really amazing Italian spots around but this one really missed the mark for us!

Yummy af. I got the egg parmigiana (I think) & it was so good. It was the prefect crunchy texture & seasoning blend. It contrasted so well with the pasta noodles! I ate there a week ago& I'm still thinking about it. Our server, Stephani was really cool & upbeat. She made me a dirty Shirley & brought me ranch for the bread

The service and the servers are amazing. Amazing family feel, the food was good but not showstopping. I will definitely return for a date night! We got the calamari, scallop arrabiata, baked ravioli, and cheese cake... all good!

Recently, my husband and I took my sister-in-law out to dinner at The Venetian for a belated birthday dinner, as she loves Italian food. I had passed the restaurant many times, and had been wanting to try it for a while. A couple of years ago ago, my husband and I had ordered pizza and salad from the Venetian, which was our only other contact with the Venetian. Anyway, our reservations were for an early (6PM) dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived and were politely greeted and readily seated. The restaurant shares a kitchen with the taco shop next door. From my vantage point, it was a bit strange, as I was seated in a way that looked right into the taco shop, which has a different atmosphere. We studied the wine menu, and chose Mosacto for my sister-in-law and Ruffino Chianti Riserva for my husband and myself. The wine list was relatively small, but there were wines we all liked. The restaurant was also small, but it was comfortable. My sister-in-law chose the fried zucchini appetizer that we all shared. It was pretty good... slightly crunchy and not too breaded. They brought out garlic bread, but I didn't try it as it appeared to be hamburger buns made into garlic bread which wasn't appetizing. For my entree, I chose the scallops served over pasta in an arrabbiata sauce. I thought he pasta itself was just OK. I really couldn't tell if it was homemade or not. The sauce was very good, but unfortunately it overwhelmed the scallops which just got lost in the dish. At the end of the meal, the staff brought a tiramisu with a candle for the birthday girl which was a very nice touch. I did find the service to be friendly and on par. All in all, the restaurant is cute and the service is good. I just don't feel that the food quality measured up to the price of the food (especially with the extra 5% service charge). I'm not sure if I would go back, but if I did I would probably try a different menu item.

We ordered hours ahead for takeout, but it made no difference as the order wasn't ready when we arrived and therefore we waited 20 minutes for it to be put together. The food is delicious but the service stinks.

There's a reason The Venetian has been a local point favorite for nearly 60 years. The pizza is delicious! We ordered a full meal starting with the calamari which is lightly breaded, tender & plentiful with options for rings or strips or both plus two sauces. The fresh veal parmigiana is a cheesy generous portion that goes great with the pasta side & the home made garlic bread. The cannelloni & meat sauce is all freshly prepared and a huge potion. The antipasto salad was fresh with a homemade dressing and lots of olives, tomatoes, meats & cheese. And the tiramisu is made by the same dessert guy for more than 20 years - it's amazing. If you're looking for a great date night or a family meal out, The Venetian is the spot. Added bonus, you can beat the OB crowd & grab Harry's tacos or surf & turf Cali burrito at their new location next door!! The ambiance is old school Italian. I haven't been to an italian resturaunt in San Diego that feels & tastes as Easy Coast as this place. And for anyone who knows New York food, that's a compliment. Lastly, we appreciated the exceptional service by our server, Quinn. From drink refills to boxing up the meal, he was Johnny on the spot. We will be back again soon, but for now we will enjoy our leftovers this weekend!

Best pizza in town. Love the family vibe. Been going here since 1976. I keep coming back! Make a reservation if you're coming on Friday or Saturday night.
