This pizza is terrible, at least from the San Jose location. Frozen pizza is better. I paid for extra toppings to get fewer than the normal amount in the picture. Two pieces had all the toppings with the rest basically a cheese pizza. I'm originally from Detroit. I don't expect a true-Detroit Style like Buddys back home, but this was far worse than Little Caesars at triple the price. The City of Detroit has been bankrupt, abandoned by its population and industry, and been burned in several riots... I think this place putting the name of 8 Mile and Detroit in their name when they serve this terrible excuse for pizza is an equal catastrophe!
ATTN: S.D.E. PIZZABased off how the presentation of 8Mileπ Detroit Style Pizza has been handled, along with the strange name that probably makes people think this place is called 8 Milett and thus making it not even register in your mind as being Pizza. Some people have even said this is hardly classifiable as Detroit Style Pizza. I can see how people would feel that way. I almost wanted to trash this place and expected it to be a joke. Alas, I try every single Pizza I can. This is part of trying all the Detroit Style Pizza. All but one after this have been tried in San Francisco at this point. Surprisingly this isn't even the worst Detroit Style here. It is not great, it is debatable if you call this good when you know what Detroit Style can be - since Mozerella Di Bufala makes something called Detroit that is more of a focaccia and this actually seems like Detroit, I am glad I tried 8Mileπ Detroit Style Pizza but... I would only recommend this to you if it is convenient to you somehow. Not bad but I can't sit here and glow about this either. If it was the only Detroit Style Pizza in San Francisco, no one would care at all about Detroit Style Pizza. Don't worry about this company, check out the following if you want to eat the good stuff in the Detroit Style realm:Capo'sCellarmaker House of PizzaLittle StarLong Bridge Pizza Co. (only on Thursdays)PizzaHacker/ Bagel Macher SFSunset SquaresSquare Pie GuysTony's NapoletanaThose are places you can get the good stuff from. This is passable only if you don't know any better. It is actually Detroit Style Pizza it's just... not necessary to try this. I sense they only came to exist to cash on the popularity of Detroit Style Pizza, which is a logical thing to sense as they were Established in 2022 according to their own logo on the box. Therefore, I cannot cosign 8Mileπ Detroit Style Pizza. However, as a San Francisco Native (representing the Sunset District, not from some outlying area or City), a Pizza Elitist, a Top 10% Pizza Reviewer on Google and Self Diagnosed Pizza Expert I do respect and appreciate any new Pizza Establishment opening up in my City. And that's why 8Mileπ Detroit Style Pizza gets 3 Stars and no less than that.Nice of them to put the Pi symbol in their name but it just makes them seem confusing. Also, why not use boxes that actually fit the Pizza? The good Pizza places know to use boxes that are appropriate for their Pizza. This place sends a huge box for a Pizza that isn't THAT big. Getting some weird Little Caesar's vibes from the moves coming off this place. After trying 84 Pizza Establishments in San Francisco since May 2022 alone I cannot really recommend this place to anyone besides people who prefer average over greatness. One Bite Pizza Review score 5.7/ 10
Tasty.
As a fan of Detroit style pizza this was truly disappointing... basically next no sauce, super oily and the crust wasn't even browned
I can't say anything about the inside of the restaurant since I had Uber eats deliver from 8mile. It was my first time having detroit style pizza. So my expectations were super high. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. I went with the classic pepperoni and had them add extra garlic. It was delicious next time I'm in San Francisco I will have to stop by.
Delicious Detroit-style pizza! Love the thick and chewy crusts. Their cheesy bread sticks is so good too.
The pizza was amazing. Fresh, cheesy, and full of toppings and super filling. Even the picky kids gobbled it up!
Tasty.
The people of Detroit thought to file a class action lawsuit against this pizza joint. They seem to think that taking a dull pizza recipe and making it rectangular instead of circular is enough to slap a Detroit style label on it. For the most superb Detroit style pizza outside of Detroit I suggest they check out via313.com (note : I have no connection whatsoever with via313 I just like their pizza)
