the beignets were delicious. also tried the grits. they were nice and creamy in texture. the neighborhood is somewhat bad but if you can overlook that you'll have a good experience. you can always just nibble on one of the three beignets and take the other two to go.

This place was worth every bit of time we spent to find it. This is great, home cooking only in a restaurant. You can't find anything wrong with their food!
Red beans and rice were perfect.
I only had a light bite here with the crawfish beignet. It was delicious, with a buttery/flaky breading and moist inside. I may have referred a different cheese vs cheddar but it was still good. Great size. $6 for 1 or $18 for 3.

Really enjoyed my visit. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and the portions were satisfying. The staff was friendly, and the place had a warm, welcoming feel. Everything came out quickly, and I left happy. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others.
Soul restored. The fried chicken was real good and so was the gumbo. This place is a nice institution.

I ended up coming here twice on my trip to SF because the food was just that good. The prices are reasonable, the service is quick, and everything I tried was delicious. Honestly, there’s not much more you can ask for.

Great food! Only spot so far i know serves grillades and grits. I crave their cheesy grits a lot!
It’s really cool how they offer $5 sandwiches so it’s not just for rich people like most restaurants in San Francisco. Great atmosphere and great food.
