Delicious, but very disappointing that all of the seating is closed off.

Simply delicious. So many different fun chai drinks here! I love the variety here and that the menu tells you the spice levels in each drink.

Best chai in SF!!! The customer service was incredible and was amazing for doing work. I loved their unique style couches and the aroma of the bar. It was an incredible expirience and I mist go again! DEFINATELY recommend!!

It was my first try trying chai at a specialty place (I'm going to assume Starbucks chai latte doesn't count). The staff were super nice and happy to navigate me through the menu. I tried the tiger spice chai and it was delicious - very complex flavors and not too spicy. I hope that the indoor space opens up soon - this seems like a great place to hang out with friends or study. Can't wait to go explore the rest of the menu.

I've been coming to David Rio for years as I used to work right near by. This place is definitely worth a stop and by far some of the best chai I've had in the US. I've gotten to try their whole menu, you can't go wrong with anything here. My favorites are the tea frappe, flamingo and black rhino. You currently can't sit inside which is understandable. This is owned locally and highly recommend stopping by.

I feel like my reviews in sf all sound the same nowadays. Amazing, but the location is crazy and you cannot park there at all. They close a lil early on Friday’s so make sure to get there early. You will not regret the hot chai! The regular signature one.Parking: Absolutely no parking and lots of street repair going on

Best chai I have ever had. A plethora of different chai combinations! They also serve their latte mixes on Amazon! Service was quick, but not too friendly. Parking: good luck finding parking in Union Square. I suggest walking to the establishment. Be careful of your surroundings SF Union Square has become littered with homeless and trash. Veg Views: Alternative milk (almond, oat) options available. Vegan drinks clearly labeled.

Been on the hunt for a good chai and heard about this place, but I wasn't prepared for how lovely the experience was too! I got Pauli's Choice. Great balance of sweetness and spice from the ginger and cardamom. Love it, and wish they had other locations in the city.

If there's such a thing as a chai lovers paradise, this is it. Chai Bar has set and exceeded my bar in terms of chai teas and my perspective has now changed. If you're a chai drinker, I guarantee coming out of your way to visit will be well worth it.The inside of Chai Bar is expansive, minimalistically trendy, and polished. Unfortunately, they've closed off their indoor seating due to circumstances, therefore it operates as take-out only. In one area the cafe has the menu posted above. Another section is where you can buy David Rio's tea and other items such as packaged food, drinks, and their own pastries. After browsing, order at the chai bar and watch them carefully craft and execute your beverages. Lids, straws, and other items are self-serve in a different area. The barista helping us was swift, and cordial, and made our drinks flawlessly. When it comes to the flavor profiles of chai, I'm inexperienced as heck!l At Chai Bar their menu consists of specialty chai drinks, cold drinks, and non-chai tea options. In terms of the types of chai, they have several different options. Each comes with a description and the sweet versus spice ratio--sugar-free options and dairy alternatives are available as well. For those interested in hot, you can get all sizes. Iced beverages are only available in medium or large. Gravitating towards sweet, I got a Medium Iced Elephant Vanilla Chai with Soy Milk. It's heavy on vanilla and sweetness, not much spice action. To me it tasted like vanilla milk--not my alley but good to try. My companion ordered a Small Hot Pauli's Drink which is a combination of their elephant and cub chai. This drink was warm, spiced, and soothing--personally too spicy for me but he swooned over it.Chai Bar by David Rio is a pret-tea special place for chai seekers. I will go out of my way to support this exceptional cafe because it's located in a tough geographical and financial position. You can find a range of chai, coffee, and tea products plus Asian fusion baked goods and small bites. Parking can be tough since it's off Market Street but convenient for those downtown. I'm thrilled to go back and sip on their other signature chai lattes.

A sign on the door says that as of August 1 they are takeaway only, this is not reflected on their website and on a Saturday they were clearly not open during supposed working hours.

I had the cub chai on this visit and it was much more like the chai I’m familiar with than their others (many are very sweet imo). One notable difference this time is that as of 1 August they no longer have indoor seating (and also no outdoor seating), no bathrooms, AND only serve pastries! It was such a disappoint to find this out after planning to work here for an hour with a chai. I likely won’t be returning because it’s in a part of town without parks or public seating.
