Finally went here! Was a solid 4/5. We were walk ins, which is great that we could get seated - but the communal table felt really tight. Not very romantic. Vibe was a little sterile, and we felt rushed at the end (got our check as soon as we ordered coffee and half way through dessert). The pizza was decent but a very chewy crust. Pasta was delicious - a corn flavor. Could come again but not a must!

Great place to dine. The food is amazing and the service is friendly and attentive. The place is packed and reservations are necessary. My one drawback was the volume of the music - a bit too loud.

Very eclectic menu and great intimate atmosphere. Hard to make a reservation, so plan in advance (took us a few months to finally land a date). We ordered the Juniper Tortelloni with duck, and Corn Meal Sachetti with Huitlacoche to share with two starter dishes: the Halibut crudo was great also. Highly recommend.

I came with family for a birthday celebration. we did not do the tasting menu. the summer squash was good but it is literally JUST squash and some jam. The pizza was also really good but it actually got amazing with the pastas. the pastas were EXCELLENT. we did the basil and the tagilottele. If i were to come back, I would get a different appetiser and maybe skip the pizza. even if you order a la carte, the servers will bring out everything like it is a tasting menu in a specific order. we thought all the servers were kind except one who was noticeably passive aggressive and while they would smile to other customers, they were very cold to us for seemingly no reason. when we called them over to ask for more wine at one point, they came 2-3 minutes later and simply stood next to the table looking at us dead in the eye waiting for a response which was extremely confusing and uncomfortable. other than this poor experience, the food and other servers were excellent.

Good, not blown away. Servers were attentive and helpful. Pasta shapes were creative and al dente, but not as chewy as I prefer. Haddock crudo were fresh and delicate, though a bit oily. Duck pasta had a BBQ note that overpowered the dish. Scarpinocc were interesting but monotonous. Pork sugo was the standout - only dish I’d order again. Chocolate dessert nailed the balance of dark chocolate and salt, worth a repeat. Ambience is low-lit and romantic, but open windows made it chilly, classic SF. On par with other good (and often cheaper) Italian spots like Tailor’s Son. I’d return, but wouldn’t rush. Attire: smart casual. Great for a date. Pro tip: get the bread to soak up the sauce.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while - everything we had was SO good! The focacia and fried chicken sandwich were really good. The salad is one of the best i’ve ever had!

Pepperoni + the lil’ peppers = yum! Ordered delivery so not sure about the restaurant vibe but the pizza vibe was simple and tasty.

Excellent food! The arancini and scarpinocc are not to be missed. The vegetarian tasting menu is unfortunately very egg-heavy and not something we could indulge in.

We’ve had dinner here around 10 times in the past few years, mainly for the taleggio scarpinocc (a must order every time we come), but also to try the new creative pastas that change with seasonal ingredients and inspiration from various cuisines! As a result, we always order a la carte to try as many pastas as possible :)

From this recent visit, some standout new pastas included the corn meal sachetti (such a cool use of huitlacoche) and juniper tortelloni (love the combo of cherries with the duck flavor!) If I had room for it, the black pepper bucatini was also intriguing to me, especially with the use of Szechuan peppercorn (one of my favorite spices!!) We also distinctly remember the use of salsa macha in pastas during our last visit.

TLDR; taleggio scarpinocc is old reliable, but innovative pasta flavors keep us coming back time and time again over other Italian restaurants in the city.

Attached photos are from various visits over the past few years :)

So I did not actually eat here. I ordered it through DoorDash or whatever service. That’s a lie, my mom ordered it for me. I cannot comment on their service or environment but I’m sure it is pretty good. I liked the wings. They had a great sauce on them and cooked well. I also liked the pizza. We got three pizzas and all were great. The dough is really good and the pizza is prepared how I usually like my pizza. That is thin but then a crunchy and thicker crust. Toppings and pizza was good. I’m pretty sure they do pasta as well which I should have tried. I like Italian food so I might be a bit bias towards this one. Anyways, solid place. I’m writing this a day later so I’m trying my best to remember. I am sitting outside a Thai place so we’ll see how this goes. Great food.

Overall the food was good and interesting. The pastas are unique and fresh tasting. They use lots of seasonal ingredients.

Does it live up to the hype? Nope. Nothing was outstanding but everything was good.
