We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. It was very busy, but we got a table inside. Chef Fang was onsite helping out with taking food orders and talking to guest. We ordered the house noodles, pork dumpling, steamed buns and egg dumplings (as seen on TV). We enjoyed our meal and even got a photo with Chef Fang.

TLDR: 3 cubes a beef in an unrecognizable fusion dish with awful service with small bowl of rice for $30.
I wouldn’t classify this as Chinese, nor Americanized Chinese. It was more like Chinese inspired fusion. I am shocked it has such high ratings.
It was recommended to me and I had my concerns when arriving but decided to give it a try. The first waitress was nice but the old lady was awful. Within five minutes of getting the menu I was asked three times to order and despite multiple empty tables I felt rushed. I asked for recommendations and she was instant on Mogu Beef.
What is Mogu beef? Still trying to figure out what Mogu sauce is, an overly sweet mustardy/mayo sauce. There were 3 cubes of beef, shiitake and cauliflower. This and a small bowl of rice for $30. It wasn’t the worst I have eaten in my life, the veggies and mushrooms were fresh. But this was a big miss.

One of my favorite all-time restaurants. Mogu Chicken is to die for. Love how the fried rice is served. Just wish the mogu recipe (or the sauce!) was in the cookbook or available for purchase! (Don't live in SF)

We stopped here 3 years ago and fell in love. Had the Mogu Chicken with Broccoli. Just got back again and confirmed this food is superb. Probably one of my favorite dishes of all time. Can’t say enough about the food here!

This place is amazing. Friendly staff, food came out very quickly. We shared everything family style and ordered enough to take some home but ate it all because it was so good! Favorites: pot stickers, wor wonton soup, sizzling beef, Szechuan chicken (which wasn’t too spicy). Definitely worth the trip if you’re in San Francisco!

I came in thinking it’d be just another Chinese meal — but I was so wrong! The flavors were rich and authentic, way better than I expected. Service was a bit rushed since they were busy, so minus one star.

The food was fine, it was nothing special, but mostly edible. The staff did accommodate our group of eight fairly quickly for Sunday lunch, which we appreciated. However, our experience went downhill from there. The waiter ignored our preferences, over-ordered an excessive amount of food (despite three of us being tweens, not adults), and brought shrimp after we specifically said no shrimp. And we’re told we’d enjoy it. We Do Not Want Shrimp!!
We also asked for water and were given Costco plastic bottles, then were charged $2 each for something that costs about twelve cents. Others around us were given cups of tap water, which is what we’d expected. As locals hosting friends from Denver, we felt taken advantage of and treated like clueless tourists. Between the upselling, the disregard for what we ordered, and the overcharging, this is not a place I’d ever return to. Lunch was $300!?!!

The food is pretty good but the service is sooo slow. It took an hour as a solo diner from being seated until leaving. I ordered the fish soup and vegetable dumplings. The fish soup was delicious but the vegetable dumplings were like raviolis covered in sweet mustard honey dressing. Very strange. Next time I want soup I’m going to check out the hot pot spot down the street
