I have loved Izzy's for decades and am very sad that they will be closed for so long for renovations. As far as I am concerned, there was no need for any renovations as the restaurant is charming and the food consistently reliable and excellent. Also, due to Covid, their outside dining space was one of the nicest in the whole city. I was unaware that they would be closing for said renovation until I stopped by one night recently and was disappointed to find them closed and went online to discover why. I will miss their food and hope that when they reopen the menu will be mostly the same. The beer battered shrimp, prime rib and the best creamed spinach in the city will be missed until they reopen.

The BEST steak in the northern part of SF for my money. Great service, we always love the staff at Izzy's. Fun decor and enjoy the classic steakhouse feel. Good drinks. Highly recommend.

When we heard Izzy's was going to close for remodeling, we decided we HAD to have one more dinner there for old times' sake before it was... changed? Well, if it was up to the food there'd be no reason to remodel. Everything from the shrimp cocktail to the creamed spinach to the steaks to the Izzy's potatoes were EXACTLY the way we remember them from 20 years ago when we first found Izzys. Yes, it's a bit expensive compared to grilling your own, but seriously, is your SO serving cocktails and checking on your satisfaction with the meal? I didn't think so. Anyway Izzy's, we love you, we hope to see you back bigger and better than before and can't wait!

Izzy's is incredible! Went here for date night - love that this place can be casual or dressy and everyone is so polite. Service was lacking though unfortunately. Our server only checked on us a few times from start of meal to finish. It was hard to get refills on drinks. The calamari was great. The chicken piccata was sooo good. Generous portions but enough for leftovers.

Why is payment processing still stuck back in 2003? Point of sale at the diners table is essential...taking a credit card and disappearing is not cool. No place in Barcelona did that....

Steaks are good quality and cooked as ordered, fish was fresh, juicy and properly sauced. Sales were crisp and well composed. Creamed spinach was decadent and delicious. Server was amazing; bar was a little slow, but the place was rocking! They're closing for some rehab work - we'll miss them until they re-open.
We wanted to get in before the remodel and since our local San Carlos location has been closed for over a year we've been going into withdrawls. Made the trek up to the city but was a little disappointed in the service. We had a 5:30 reservation so it wasn't super busy when we got there. A server can make all the difference and we got a total dud - like wah wah wah.... She had no personality - no smile - was slow to take our order and wasn't very attentive at all. I mean if you are in the service industry at least smile, greet us etc. I was never offered a refill on my ice tea - the basics weren't there. I felt like we were bothering her by being there and we are all nice and super friendly ??♀️ food was good. All 6 of us ended up ordering the filets and ordered them medium and some came out looking blue. We didn't complain or send them back. Just overall ugh - mediocre experience and left disappointed. Can't wait for San Carlos to reopen!

Support Izzy's before they close for renovations next week! The steaks are high quality, served piping hot and always just fantastic. I've been in The City for 35 years — this is the best steak in The City hands down for the $. Izzy's potatoes are also the best and the bartenders mix generous drinks. Can't wait to go back.

Food was good, service was good, just didn’t like the idea of seating too close to the other tables and the acoustics made it feel like the conversations were really loud and noisy. Overall I enjoyed the steak, the was it was made and marinated. The sides were also well made and tasty. The taste of salmon with a little tangy salsa was so balanced as well. ?
They will be closing for construction in a couple of weeks, so that may have contributed to the less than enthusiastic service when we entered an hour before closing. (Upon entering, we were asked to make a decision quickly... was kind of a put off)The skirt steak house sauce tasted like teriyaki, and the steak was chewy. Creamed spinich was the real winner!Kid-friendliness: Have a list of about 4 things for your little one to choose from. They do offer high chairs, but this isn't a crayon and kids menu kind of place.

I can't say enough good things about Izzy's. The food, service, atmosphere, we're all beyond our expectations. We were a party of 7 and each of us had a spectacular experience. I can't wait to return.

Got there for a birthday dinner before they pause for a spell! New york steak au poivre is classically prepared, tender and flavorful. There are fancier pricier spots, but Izzy's delivers the goods, leaving you wanting more. Looking forward to my next visit!

There was 6 of us for dinner on Blue Angels weekend so it was busy. We've eaten here many times over the years. This time it was just okay not great but not bad. We all ordered filets with sides. Taste, presentation were not that good. We were upstairs and as the tables filled up with large parties, it got super loud and difficult to have a conversation at our own table. Im hesitant to return next year after their remodel.
