Was expecting to see local farmers & producers on the menu. Shows in the quality of meats & seafood. The natural wine thing is another miss.Sigh !

A beautiful blend of flavors and textures. I'm giving a 4 because it's my first time there and I'd like to see what's next on their seasonal menu.I went here for my birthday so my media has no labels. I was pleasantly surprised with each of the dish that we had. Each item had their own uniqueness to it and I love how original the flavor combos were. I personally like going to restaurants that have an assembly operation in front of you because it's cool to see how these dishes beautifully come together.I will say the dessert was a very refreshing yet satisfying touch. Hibiscus ice cream on top of a rose apple with a buttermilk foam. Like...just wow.Highly recommend for a special occasion or just treat yourself. Well done chef, I'll be coming back.

We ate on Valentine’s Day so I was going to give them a pass for the lackluster service, but then I read other reviewers who agreed: food is great, but service could be more polished. For example, when we were seated the server immediately put down the amuse bouche, did not say what it was, and this was all while I was still standing, taking my jacket off and handing it to the host. When we ordered the head cheese add on the server foodsplained head cheese to us. It felt like she was talking down to us. We were not given a description of the menu at the start but noticed other guests received that treatment. When we ordered the add ons, our server just walked away and we weren’t sure she heard our request that we just have one serving. Small things like having to keep your silverware between courses, not being offered share plates when sharing add ons, smelling torched lobster shell all night (smells like burnt hair), and watching the stressed chefs plate food so rushed, make for a less pleasant environment. Overall, the food and atmosphere is great and if they could just slow down, be more intentional, and more customer oriented, it could really shine.

Wonderful little French Japanese inspired restaurant. The food is delicious. Fresh and sophisticated. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is overall wonderful. We’ve dined couple of times at Mijoté and weren’t disappointed at any point. We had friendly conversations with the chef - about wine and food.Truly recommended for an amazing French experience in San Francisco.

We had a tasting menu of a few dishes with optional additional courses. The squab was very tasty and the main course pork was good too.

We were able to make reservations on tock and pay for the prefixe beforehand, parking wasn't too bad as the restaurant is near a residential area. We had a member of our party who didn't eat seafood, which I noted when I made the reservation. They double checked when we arrived and let him know that they would sub out the seafood items for him. While the substituted items were still tasty, the value of the prefixe is definitely more worth it with the seafood (halibut was subbed for more veggies, monkfish was subbed for chicken breast). We also added additional items to share (scallops and beef cheek), which was more than enough food. Everything overall tasted good, though I think the seafood items were better than the non-seafood items. The space is small with tables packed pretty closely, but felt pretty cozy overall.

This place feels upscale and down to earth at the same time. The food is inventive and exciting, but not pretentious. Really great experience. We did 4 courses each plus shared two of the additions between the two of us and it was plenty of food after starving ourselves all day.

Affordable and delicious prefix menu. The 4 course prefix menus was $82 and it had some stand out dishes! I would recommend coming here for the food but not for the vibes. The restaurant is fairly small with some tables and counter seating in front of the open kitchen. The environment is fairly loud and the counter seating is not the most comfortable - so wouldn't recommend this place for a date. Dishes:- monkfish: this was the highlight of the meal- the monkfish was delicious that it melts in your mouth. I love the sauce too though it could use a bit less butter- tuna persimmons: this dish is well balanced and the ingredients were really fresh - pork belly: didn't love this dish - the sauce didn't go well with the meat and the pork belly skill was way too hard. It was hard to cut and hard to bite- the pre app and dessert: will skip as there were not memorable

Came to Mijote to celebrate a friend's birthday. We walked in (as making reservations online comes with a service fee) right when they opened and were seated. We did their tasting menu, and while everything was tasty, nothing was amazing. We also tried a few natural wines and weren't too impressed. The most disappointing part of the evening was when one of our courses (the scallop) was presented, in our opinion, slightly undercooked, or perhaps slightly under for our preference. We graciously flagged down our waiter and were immediately met with hostility; our waiter spat out "I guarantee it's cooked." Ultimately, they took the scallop back, brought it out a few minutes later, and dumped it on our plate. The whole experience felt combative for no reason. We in no way meant to disrespect the chef and simply wanted to communicate our preference. We also would have been happy to just not eat the scallop rather than go through that experience.Overall, food was fine and the environment was pretty casual; our experience was just a bit ruined by the unnecessary confrontation.

Had a fantastic experience dining here. They have a rotating prix fixe menu that changes daily. It is a set four course menu with add-on options. We added on the mussels and the octopus and we were stuffed afterwards - the portions are pretty generous. Everything was incredible!! I was so in awe at the attention to detail and the varied flavors and textures. My favorites were the mussels, bigeye tuna, sole, and octopus but honestly all the dishes were amazing. We sat at the bar which resembled a sushi counter, and they have a few small tables throughout. This place would be perfect for dates or small groups. Would highly recommend!

I stumbled upon Mijoté when I was searching for an anniversary spot. It hit all the marks and I loved my whole evening there. Street parking only I believe. We were seated right away for our reservation. Make sure to reserve a month in advance on their res site. You have to pay for your meal in advance (not including tax, that will be paid at your meal time). The set up is a sushi bar style seating area as well as a couple of small party tables surrounding. I would recommend to come in small parties unless you were able to get a reservation for your big party. The servers were very nice and friendly. They explained the menu to us, and how the menu changes based on local and seasonal produce. So cool! Anything with the price next to it means it'll be an additional cost. They recommend these plates to be shared I loved every meal I had. The flavors combined beautifully and I enjoyed eating food combinations I didn't think I would, like raisins and duck?? But wow it worked well. My favorite was the raw halibut and grapefruit. The sauces of each dish was so good I could lick the plate!Overall, a superb experience here. I hope to come back again!

TLDR: I want to love it but I just don't. A fun concept and a beautiful space at a price that feels reasonable in this town.Beautiful space and an appealing format. If you sit at the counter, you really get a great view of the plates being finished.I've been twice. Both times, I've found the food and service experience to be a little lacking.Food - There was little differentiation in the scale or weight of the courses, causing the meal to lack of sense of "progression". The most compelling dishes (often the ones featured on their IG) are optional upsells. Both times I found the portions a little oversized and the dishes all a little heavier than expected making it a bit of a slog to get through the base menu even without the optional and compelling sounding upsells.Service - The team is small and most people who bring you food are also engaged in the production of that food. Both times I went I never felt especially cared for or attended to. In both cases I found service to be somewhat rushed up front and extremely slow and inattentive at the end.
