We had an amazing experience celebrating Chinese New Year post parade time there! Our family ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, including the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Greek Salad, and a couple of their specialty pizzas. Every bite was absolutely delicious—fresh ingredients, great flavors, and perfectly cooked!
Despite the restaurant being busy, the two gentlemen serving customers did an outstanding job. They were friendly, attentive, and handled the rush with professionalism and efficiency. We truly appreciated their great service, making our celebration even more enjoyable.
If you're looking for great food and excellent service, this is the place to go. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back! 🎉🍕👏

We went on one of the busy night. It was the Chinese New Year parade and most people went to North Beach for dinner after the parade so it was really crowded at North Beach. We couldn't find reservations and our friend was at birth Beach pizza so we could take their table.

Service was okay. There were only 2 people serving and taking orders. So it was not well organized that night. Pizza was great, the dough was good and soft and there were lots of ingredients on the pizza.

Food and service were both great. We will return next time to try their chicago-style pizza. We ordered the hand tossed Pizza called cable car it was really good and the beef ravioli with bolognese sauce and meatballs rounded out the meal. Nice to have this place 3 blocks away!

Stopped by here for some lunch with my friend. Had a great 10" Fisherman's pizza. The pizza was cooked to perfection and the crust was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

From Brazil to North Beach!

I have lived in North Beach, San Francisco, for over twenty-five years. During my early years here, I discovered North Beach Pizza and became a loyal customer at its original location. Their pizza was one of the closest ones to New York pizza, and I loved and enjoyed it during my years there. So it came as a surprise to me when I realized I had never reviewed them on Yelp! Before starting to write this review, I researched their history online. What I learned surprised me because I assumed the owners were Italian or Italian Americans all these years, and I was wrong!

Al Souza, a Brazilian immigrant, launched his restaurant career in 1976 with a San Francisco pizza shop called California Pizza. Though he held a computer science degree from the University of San Francisco, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to the restaurant industry. After honing his management skills at Church's Fried Chicken and Wendy's, he set his sights on a new venture.

In 1982, Souza opened the first North Beach Pizza on Grant Avenue, San Francisco. This innovative concept offered a value-oriented menu with fast and reliable computerized delivery, a system he developed. The success was immediate, attracting hundreds of businesses throughout the city. Capitalizing on this momentum, Souza opened a second location nearby in 1986. Today, North Beach Pizza boasts a growing empire with multiple San Francisco locations, including one under construction on Pier 39 and further expansion into Berkeley and San Mateo.

Beyond building a restaurant empire, Souza is a recognized leader within the Bay Area's Brazilian community. He's known for mentoring former employees and fellow Brazilians, helping them launch successful businesses.

We ordered a medium pie, half Aloha and half Meat Lovers, to take out during our last visit. We called and placed the order, and when we got there, it was ready and waiting for us. The Aloha comes with Canadian Bacon, Ham, and Pineapple. Meat Lovers is topped with sausage, salami, pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, and meatballs. We asked for the crust to be extra crusty, and it was. I wouldn't say I like sweet pizzas, but the Aloha tasted good. On the other hand, Meat Lovers is filling and delivers lots of flavors.

One of the things I like about this North Beach Pizza location is the smiling and friendly staff. The dining area is charming, too. It is roomy and well-set up. We last ate there a while ago, but we will soon.

Vegetarian options: Limited vegetarian options are available.

Parking: Parking spots are hard to come by in this neighborhood.

Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessibility is not a problem.

First two visits the food was great, third visit my Hawaiian pizza was smelly and nasty tasting. Was left with a nasty after taste two days later consecutively at the very least. Atmosphere was pretty nice, but in the first day one of the employees despite being a nice guy, had gave me a weird vibe, but I thought it was just me. As I recall he was just staring and analyzing me from sort of a nestled position.

We had an incredible meal at North Beach Pizza! The pizza was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The menu had a great variety of options, and everything we tried was fantastic. We had 2 pizzas- the aloha and a plain cheese, along with a chicken parm sandwich, antipasta salad and mozzarella sticks. Every bite was delicious, and the ingredients tasted top-notch. If you’re craving great pizza, this is the place to go!

I go here only because the line for Golden Boy is always too long.

These slices are too floppy, not cooked long enough. Not big enough either. $6 for a pepperoni slice and it's too small. Also they use the incorrect pepperoni.

At least they don't lie and call it New York Style. All in all it isn't bad. There are better options around though.

Food is great but what really stood out about this place is the treatment I get from servers at this place, especially Kubra and Tom.

Otherwise, the custom made pizza I requested with pineapple and anchovies was so delicious.

And they actually put a lot of pineapple and anchovies unlike other places.

100% would recommend and visiting again
