One word: Exquisite. Both savory and dessert soufflés were absolutely delicious! We ordered the shiitake, basil, and garlic soufflé to share, plus the chocolate soufflé for dessert. Each were perfect! Make sure you call ahead for reservations and be prepared to enjoy!
I have been a fan since when I lived in SF in 2000 but this venerable intimate French soufflé bistro has been in business since 1979. Chef Jacqueline Margulis is around 86 yrs young and still working her magic of making fluffy soufflés in the kitchen. This intimate restaurant in North Beach off Grant is hard to find parking so bring your patience and it takes a leisurely two hours to enjoy a savory entree and dessert soufflé. If you enjoy souffles, this restaurant should be on your bucket list! It's amazing that Jacqueline is still making every dinner and dessert from scratch, herself! Everything we have tried both times we ate at Jacqueline was top quality and delicious. From the vegetarian French Onion soup, to the salads, wine, champagne, and of course, souffles!Vegetarian options: French onion soup made with vegetarian stock, salads, souffles. Not a place for vegans.
