“One65 was an amazing discovery on our trip to San Francisco. Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). We wanted to go back today but they are closed on Sundays.?“

“Understated entrance but you’re welcomed warmly by staff and smells as soon as you walk through the door. Flavors are unique (and frigging amazing), dishes appropriately portioned, and the vibe has an energy that we loved. It’s nice they offer lite mods to the pre-fixe to up the experience if you prefer.

My wife and I were there on a date, but there a few larger groups, some singles at the bar enjoying the wine pairing, and general feel was a foody-ish crowd (the type the wants to have great food but doesn’t need to take photos of every dish).“

For the main, the oxtail was outstanding—so rich, tender, and packed with flavor. Finished everything off with the chocolate mousse, which was perfectly velvety and decadent. “Yesterday, was a great day as my hungry husband and I crossed into Zuni Cafe. It was his first time and I wanted him to love Zuni as I have loved Zuni these past two decades. Zuni never disappoints. We ate upstairs by a window looking out on Rose. our waiters were all professional and fun and the paella was exceptional. of course, Zuni makes the best traditional Caesar salad--bright and fresh and without the mountain of parmesan you so often receive in lesser locales. thank you for a wonderful memory for us.“

It really does feel like your favorite bistro in Paris, where the technique is polished without being overdone and the dining environment is genuinely warm (not just to garner media accolades). Wine list is impressive and the pours do not disappoint. We dined later on a Thurs eve and had absolutely no issues with the sound/noise levels.“

“This is a great traditional bistro. It survived the move from downtown Market Street. Food is still good and almost reasonably priced. Very nice ambiance, especially near the windows where you can watch the JChurch. They have a fairly decent sized regular menu and a lot of specials. We had the grilled fig salad which was delicious and the crab stuffed mushrooms. The duck with cherries was very nice, and came with greens. The steak frites, of course, came with fries and I understand was excellent. The server was extremely knowledgeable and good at suggesting dishes and wine. Had a nice Lillet strawberry spritz and some really good Bordeaux. An ice cream sundae for dessert and expressos finished it off. If you live in town, the J-Church probably the best way to go; otherwise, we were able to find street parking less than a half block away. Very nice place for a date.“

Today again I came out more than happy.The relationship between price and quality of food and service is perfect. The people who work deserve all the respect and recognition. After a much anticipated wait my wife and I were finally able to visit this restaurant.
Being in the industry I always set my expectations on the low end and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Unfortunately, I was correct in having low expectations and was disappointed with the final product which is the food.
My wife and I travel quite a bit and always visit top tier restaurants everywhere we travel. We had the privilege of sitting at chefs tables in Paris, Lisbon, Barcelona and T/O the US.
This experience left us underwhelmed, nonetheless I command Chef Joseph on his knowledge and craftsmanship and an overall good value for the money.
The open kitchen concept is always welcoming, but when I have to use my phone's flashlight to see the menu it loses its charm. To us the Chef looked a bit tired and at times it felt like he was doing us a favor by cooking for us. This work is not easy and to plate for 14 people at the same time by one person can always be challenging.
The service was good and attentive, wine selection is vast and can accommodate many pallets.
The food this evening was hit and miss.
The soup was very light and for me the broth lacked a fuller body. The mignonette sauce for the oysters lacked zest or spice and made the oysters taste very bland. The salad dressing and kefir did not work for me; it made the salad bitter and uneventful.
Additionally we ordered a Tuna and Rillette appetizers. I expected the tuna to have a light sear and have a fresh taste, by the time we got to eat it it was cooked and felt like typical fried fish good, but nothing to get excited about. The same for the tuna main course that I ordered, by the time we ate it it was cooked and again uneventful. You figured if someone is butchering a whole fresh local tuna it wouldn't be wasted on being fully cooked by the time we ate it. Stuffed Rabbit was ok, outstanding craftsmanship in deboning and putting it back together. The sausage part was tasty, the other part was bland and somewhat overcooked. Pavlova was a complete miss, it was an ok dessert but not a Pavlova in a true sense.
The good, Rillete, Pil-Pil tomatoes over saltfish, grilled corn, all the side dishes and Galette were outstanding.
Needless to say, when the side dishes outshine the main course, it's an overall netgain.
I understand and appreciate what the Chef is trying to achieve and will definitely be back for another try sometime in the future.“

“Absolutely loved dinner at Heirloom Cafe in the Mission. One of those rare San Francisco spots that still feels deeply personal, warm, and genuinely neighborhood-driven. The atmosphere is intimate and understated, but the food and wine program are world class.

The burger is still one of the best in SF. Rich, perfectly cooked, layered with incredible flavor, and somehow even better paired with a bold red from their beautifully curated wine list. The staff clearly knows wine and actually cares about helping you find the right pairing instead of just pushing expensive bottles. We ended up with an amazing Hungarian recommendation that elevated the entire meal. The desert wine and champagne even slap.

Huge credit to Wisconsin born Josh DeClercq and the team in the kitchen for keeping the food simple, seasonal, and dialed. You can feel the consistency and attention to detail in every dish. The whole place has that timeless California French bistro energy that’s getting harder and harder to find in San Francisco.

If you want a real SF dinner experience with exceptional wine, incredible hospitality, and food that feels thoughtful without trying too hard, this place is special. Perfect date night spot. We’ll absolutely be back.“

“Wow our family came here on a weekday for brunch. We happened to be just passing by and happened upon this place. The tables were already reserved so we got seated outside. The server and employees were wonderful! When the sun started to shine in our face, they helped set up the parasols to help with the glare.
The food was amazing!! Everything was just perfect and the portion sizes were nice. I didn't feel overstuffed. The ambiance, interior design and music were nice. Will definitely highly recommend and will be back!“

“I love Third Cousin. This is perhaps my 4th time there over the years (taking into account that I moved to England 6 years ago.) It was a high point of our trip from there to SF to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Yes, it is an expensive experience and it was worth every penny, again. I love the simple yet elegant atmosphere. It was a treat to speak with the owner/chef Greg Lutes and trade favorite London haunts. Our server was impeccable and friendly. The food divine. Wish I could visit more often.“
