“Constantly changing 4-course menu with a few supplements. Menu is driven by seasonal market ingredients. It's a fun time and everything is overall tasty - don't expect the precision of a multi-starred Michelin restaurant, because that's not what they're trying to be. Wine list is natural and BTG options are limited to whatever they're pouring for the pairing that evening. Space has lots of energy. Service is friendly and reasonably efficient.“

“One65 was an amazing discovery on our trip to San Francisco. Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). We wanted to go back today but they are closed on Sundays.?“

“I enjoyed the escargot and the mushroom medley. Steaks were the best I have ever had and perfectly cooked. Real French people cooking here so the food was fantastic. Very great price and value. Best of the best here! Will be coming back soon.“

“My friend, Mike, who lives nearby with his wife, raved about it so much that my BF and I decided to come after a short trip to Marin. It was everything that he described and more. It was fantastic! Excellent food and atmosphere. Will definitely add to my list of favorites and will recommend to my Palo Alto friends!“

“Iconic SF chicken spot surprised us with other tasty treats. Don't sleep on the flourless chocolate cake, chilled shrimp, or fritto!
Food: 5. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Cost to worth it rating: 3
Opentableable: yes
Return worthiness: yes
Highlight:
- Charley: most amazing waiter. Friendly and so on top of it. Anticipated what we needed and paid attention to details. Realized an app I mentioned was lost in a service handoff on his own and said he'd make it happen.
- Flourless chocolate cake: fluffiest version I've had with just the right amount of subtle sweetness. 5 stars
- White shrimp: fantastic chilled starter can order by the piece. 5 stars
- Fritto: lightly fried crispy calamari, broccolini, and the surprise star; eggplant. 5 stars
- Anchovies: not too salty or briny and my friend enjoyed them. 5 stars
- Chicken: well cooked and appreciated the brine: 4.5 stars
- Roasted tomatoes and peppers: as sides for the steak were almost Chez Panisse worthy wonderful. 4.5 stars
- Acme bread and butter: solid and appreciate no bread plates to encourage using the paper on the table. 4 stars
- Bavette steak: cooked nicely with flakey salt on top. 4 stars
- Squash and bresaola: unique dish and appreciated the almonds for texture. 4 stars
- Pavlova: unique with fennel and raspberries. Great texture not too crunchy and not too soft. 4 stars
- Atmosphere: simple yet comfortable with several hidden dining rooms upstairs in addition to the downstairs area
- Wine: short list but enjoyed what we had: extra brut, gamey, unique white varietal, and white label house pinot.
Midlights:
- If Barting not the most fun 10 minute walk down market, but could muni closer.
Lowlights:
- Chicken did stay true to its long wait of over an hour which is quite a while. Like that it's done fresh but with most people ordering them you'd think maybe they could have them ready and have a steady stream of fresh ones.
- I've lived in the area all my life and have been meaning to visit but have never been here--been missing out“

“Excellent place for lunch or dinner. The first time I entered a few days ago as a surprise because I didn't know the place and I got carried away by my curiosity. Today again I came out more than happy. The relationship between price and quality of food and service is perfect. The people who work deserve all the respect and recognition. Fresh and very good quality ingredients, treated with respect and head. The burgers, especially, are spectacular. Competent and very attentive service. In a word: absolutely recommended site. Also, a detail: the entire place is open and visible to customers. Always a very good sign and a lot of confidence, when there is nothing to hide. Congratulations!“

“The bread and ESPECIALLY the butter was to die for. I would come back just for that! The atmosphere is very intimate and beautiful, warm, joyful, and elegant without being pretentious. Really enjoyed the beer & wine selection (great cider as well). The mascarpone Strawberry bar for dessert is a must, and would really recommend the halloumi and wine pairing. Also the service was amazing, super friendly, gave great recs, and gave me live updates on my table readiness 😘 do come here!“

“Stopped in for happy hour and had an amazing time. The food and drinks were incredible, especially the crab stuffed mushrooms, just melt in your mouth. The Royale aperitif was delicious, as well as the GSM. Service was friendly and helpful, and he even gave us a dash of sparkling wine with our mussel sauce (great recommendation!) and the gal was so sweet! Very glad we decided to stop in.“

“Amazing experience. Ignore the lazy folks who are tripping about the process to get a table. Just go over there at 4, get in line, get assigned a seating and then go get a drink in the neighborhood. Well worth it for this incredible dining experience. Best food I've had since my last trip to Japan!“

“Even on an incredibly busy night, this place reminded me why I keep coming back. They were completely full—so full that they had even removed the bar stools to accommodate more guests.
Eric wasn’t there, but the manager recognized me, as did Thomas, Eric’s fellow bartender. They remembered that I love sitting at the bar and said, “Don’t worry, we know you like to sit at the bar.” They actually brought out a bar stool with a backrest just for me. That kind of personal hospitality is rare.
And the food! The vegetarian version prepared by Michael Tuck was phenomenally tasty—creative, flavorful, and absolutely memorable. Tomatoes on the Rock was an amazing version of gazpacho, with tiny tomatoes exploding with flavor in the mouth.
Thomas carried on the amazing tradition of hospitality that Eric has always provided. Great food is important, but being remembered and genuinely taken care of is what turns a restaurant into a place you want to return to again and again.
Phenomenal food, exceptional hospitality, and a team that truly understands how to make a guest feel special.“

“Absolutely loved dinner at Heirloom Cafe in the Mission. One of those rare San Francisco spots that still feels deeply personal, warm, and genuinely neighborhood-driven. The atmosphere is intimate and understated, but the food and wine program are world class.
The burger is still one of the best in SF. Rich, perfectly cooked, layered with incredible flavor, and somehow even better paired with a bold red from their beautifully curated wine list. The staff clearly knows wine and actually cares about helping you find the right pairing instead of just pushing expensive bottles. We ended up with an amazing Hungarian recommendation that elevated the entire meal. The desert wine and champagne even slap.
Huge credit to Wisconsin born Josh DeClercq and the team in the kitchen for keeping the food simple, seasonal, and dialed. You can feel the consistency and attention to detail in every dish. The whole place has that timeless California French bistro energy that’s getting harder and harder to find in San Francisco.
If you want a real SF dinner experience with exceptional wine, incredible hospitality, and food that feels thoughtful without trying too hard, this place is special. Perfect date night spot. We’ll absolutely be back.“

“I love stopping by on my way to work. I’m always there around 8am and the pastries are still warm! It’s a lovely atmosphere, with friendly employees, and delicious pastries and coffee. It’s normally around $12 for a pastry and latte. What more could you want?“

“I was gonna give them full stars, but I don't think that they were prepared very well for the July 4 rush that happened... Also, it's a great neighborhood spot, but it's not really a French bistro... It's a French restaurant with bistro styled food, but I'm not sure there was a French person there ;-) food was excellent, and the service was sweet, although overwhelmed and not fully present. I would go back for the beef!! .“

“Everything I've ever had from here has been amazing, just scrumptious perfection. I used to live a block away and would go there more often, I've moved a bit further away now but returned today for lunch and sweet treats. The guava puff pastry I got today was sublime, the ganache brownie is my standby go-to, literally the best brownie I've ever had in my life. The soups are always exquisite. Just nice people, everything clean and fresh, a pleasant little community experience around the corner from where I grew up in my family home of 40 years. Coming to Patisserie on California always feels like coming home.“

The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, offering a great mix of familiar favorites and interesting discoveries. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations based on your taste, which really enhances the experience.
Small plates pair beautifully with the drinks and are simple yet flavorful, making it easy to settle in for a long, enjoyable evening. Service is friendly, attentive, and never rushed.
Overall, it’s a lovely neighborhood gem that consistently delivers a great experience—definitely worth visiting again and again.“

“We had a lovely, quick coffee before heading to a matinee at Orpheum. The cappuchino was so good! I got avocado toast which was good but I would’ve preferred smashed avocado because the slices kept falling off the bread. It went everywhere. It was tasty though 😊“
