“We were completely charmed by the quality and thoughtfulness of everything about this place! The brunch-type food is excellent, and the music and decor are individualistic and welcoming (check out the restroom too! Love the generous, relaxing spa vibe and the chandelier!). There’s a bowl of unique, handmade metal-and-glass kaleidoscopes to play with at the big table, and around a corner we got to meet a sweet little 18-year-old resident doggie named Twiggy. “Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable evening with a few dishes that really stood out.

We started with a variety of starters, bread, salad, and radishes, and I thought these were quite good. The bread was fresh, the salad was nicely put together, and the radishes were surprisingly one of the highlights for me. Everything felt fresh and well prepared.

The seafood/fish soup, unfortunately, was probably the weakest part of the meal. The smell was quite strong and lingered a bit too much for my liking, and it made the dish difficult to enjoy. Definitely not something I would personally order again.

The main course was much better. The chicken was nicely prepared, and the accompanying vegetables and pasta were flavorful and well balanced. Nothing overly complicated, but everything came together nicely.

And then came dessert — the bread pudding with vanilla was easily the star of the night! It was warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious. After a mixed experience with the soup, that dessert definitely ended the meal on a high note. 😋

Overall, Verjus was a good choice for a corporate dinner. The atmosphere worked well for a group setting, and while there were a couple of hits and misses with the food, there were enough good dishes to make it an enjoyable evening. And if you have a sweet tooth, definitely save room for that bread pudding!“

“Sooooo good! Moroccan flavors are unforgettable. Starting with the flatbread and spreads to the amazing cauliflower, the tender octopus and the savory mussels. Thanks to our server, we tried some menu items that we would have otherwise missed.“

“Greeted by very kind and accommodating staff, we were originally a party of 3 which became 4 (1.5hrs later) then finally 7 (another 1hr later). They sat us at the back which was cozy and very relaxed then to the patio at the front when we became a larger group. We were probably a headache but they made all the accommodations effortlessly.

Wine: love the concept of being able to choose your own (selection displayed inside) or being served based on your craving. We enjoyed all the bottles we had, combo of chilled reds and orange wines.

Food: meat board, holy shit the prosciutto was delicious, so delicate and easy to eat, no chewiness at all. Really enjoyed the flatbread that came with it. My only complaint is the portion, wish I had more.

Overall, a great place for quality time and conversation. We never felt rushed. I almost felt bad for not ordering “enough” for such a big party.

We just moved to neighborhood, and I couldn’t be happier to have such an amazing wine bar right down the street. Tala and her team are warm, fun, and impressively knowledgeable about wine, and they make everyone feel welcome whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or just curious. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the space itself is beautifully designed. It’s perfect for a leisurely afternoon wine flight or a cozy date night. I’ll be a regular for a long time to come!“

“I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I am a business owner a few doors down and I wandered in with a friend after work one night about a month ago. We were met with such incredible warmth from the staff and the environment itself, even without a reservation. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Josh, only to find out later that he is the owner. He made excellent recommendations on everything from our drinks to dessert. The bar didn’t feel isolated from the rest of the restaurant and guests, but rather was lively hub frequented by kitchen and serving staff and warmed by a smoldering wood fire. The coziest. We swooned for the poke appetizer, complete with house-made toasted, but not crisp, blue corn tortillas. The pork shoulder tacos—also to die for. I have to say though, that the star on the sidelines was the beans. I honestly didn’t know I could feel this way about beans…but I digress. Josh bounced around from table to table all night, never letting a single ball drop, making every guest feel like *his* guest. A pot de crème sealed the evening in perfect bliss. I’m back a month later with the same friend, eating different and somehow even more incredible entrees: ribeye, halibut and a rhubarb crisp for dessert. I scarcely ever take the time to write a review as I prefer to vote with my $ and my feet, but I simply couldn’t eat here again without taking the time to sing it’s praises. Eat here.“

“Where do I begin! We were in the area to help move family back home to the Midwest and I left behind a bag full of gifts I bought earlier that day. I reached out to Millay’s Instagram and not only did the amazing owner, Angel (Angel indeed) meet me there during non-business hours, but she packed us a bag full of goodies for our 30 hour drive 🥹 I’ve worked in restaurants for 13 years and been to many across the country and I’ve never seen such a thing.

For people that don’t leave bags behind (haha) our bartender was so warm and welcoming and easy to talk to. (Leni?) and they had a type of wine I have not been able to find where I live in Minnesota - I was so excited to see it, didn’t hesitate to order it, and it was perfection.

Cute little place with chill vibes, you could start or end your night here, or plan your evening around it. :)

Experiences like this are why I’ve always gravitated to California. Thank you for reminding me why I consider it my true home.

From the start, the hospitality was exceptional; Restaurant manager Danny thoughtfully reached out beforehand to check on dietary restrictions. That attentiveness set the tone for the evening, where we were warmly welcomed the moment we stepped in.

Every course showcased remarkable palate precision, featuring innovative, unexpected flavor profiles that kept us captivated. To top it off, the portions were refreshingly generous—so much so that we couldn't quite finish dessert, though Paul kindly boxed it up for us with care.

“OK, so in theory, I could be a little bit biased, because I live around the corner and this is a very convenient place to get a very good glass of wine and a very, very good small plate of food. I don’t think there’s anywhere else on Union Street or on Chestnut Street and possibly even on Fillmore Street that has anywhere near that combination. Go there now! “Walked by and like the look of the restaurant. It’s an intimate and comfortable space. The menu is tight with only a few selected options for appetizers and mains! Wine list is extensive and the recommended pairing with the food were spot on.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. There was a lively energy in the room, but it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. The music and conversation were at a comfortable level, so we could actually talk and enjoy ourselves. There was also plenty of people watching, which, as far as I’m concerned, is always a bonus. 😊

The three of us sampled two different wines. One friend went with the Masha, while the other friend and I tried the Los Chuchaquis. The Masha was definitely the favorite of the night. It was so good that my friend ordered another glass.

The Los Chuchaquis was not quite my cup of tea, or should I say, not quite my glass of wine? 😂 I found it more tannic and bitter than I personally enjoy. My friend, however, loved it and thought it was delicious, so clearly this one comes down to personal preference. Maybe my palate just wasn’t ready for it!

What really made the evening enjoyable, though, was the overall experience. The bartender was friendly and welcoming, the crowd was happy and upbeat without being overly loud or obnoxious, and the whole place had a relaxed, comfortable vibe.

I’m not usually a night owl, so I have to give my friends credit for getting me out of the house. I ended up having a genuinely wonderful time, and I’m really glad I went.

I’ll definitely consider coming back. The wine bar itself is worth another visit, but I also noticed that the surrounding neighborhood seems really interesting. I’d love to return, wander around a bit, and explore more of this part of the city.

“Really excited to have this fun wine bar + dac biet be in the neighborhood!
The food is refreshing and exciting, the drinks inventive but still approachable, and just an overall great fun vibe.
2 visits so far:

1st visit with girlfriends and we really liked the crispy eggplant and the amazing steak frites. I'm not a bit steak person but the bo kho sauce was so rich and deep and also a great reason to eat the thicc fries.
We liked the meatballs enough but thought it needed more green/sharp elements, and same with the corn tagliatelle. The black cod was quite good and a lighter dish, but felt like it needed a lot more of that yummy broth to eat with the rice.
And ended on a really interesting banana caramelized fish sauce sundae.

2nd visit was the tail end of the summer menu, so we repeated favs: steak poivre and crispy eggplant, but we added some great hits:
Crispy oyster mushrooms which were a little earthy but really tasty from the sambal and basil. Big hit.
Whipped tofu ricotta with tomato jam was really tasty and just needed a few more slices of bread to sop up.
Pork chop was a surprise hit, with a great combo of lemongrass and a light savory sauce -- it was some of the best pork chop I've had, being really tender and not too lean.
