“The most delicious tacos in the world! I hate cilantro and avocado, but thanks to the food I ate here, I realized for the first time that avocado and cilantro could be delicious. The spacing between seats is not wide and it has a friendly atmosphere with many locals, so I recommend it to those who eat and wake up quickly.“

“Fabulous as always! This time we had fig and burrata salad, tomato salad, and cesar salad. Figs were insane. Chicken and steak were next - cannot go wrong with chicken obviously. The steak had a winning mustard sauce. The fruit tart was the standout dessert, better than the chocolate cake, which was still nice. All around YUM. Service is superlative and atmosphere chillax. I love Zuni!“

“Definitely not your typical brunch. We loved the Filipino inspired creations. Don’t skip the French toast with caviar hollandaise, crumbled bacon, and shrimp. It’s AMAZING!“

“My friend, Mike, who lives nearby with his wife, raved about it so much that my BF and I decided to come after a short trip to Marin. It was everything that he described and more. It was fantastic! Excellent food and atmosphere. Will definitely add to my list of favorites and will recommend to my Palo Alto friends!“

“Always a solid spot for good food, very much a place to take a date! Outside seating can be a tiny bit rougher at night when it's windy/cold, but otherwise, just an all-around solid spot!
Vegetarian options: Good selection of at least 2 pizzas that are vegetarian. And it's not your typical veggie special, they pair good flavors.“

“This place has been a city favorite for so long and I'm so excited that it survived through the chaos to still be here! Returned recently with some friends. I really appreciated the laid back atmosphere where we didn't ever feel rushed and the staff was so attentive. The home baked bread that you can actually buy and take home is still worth the trip alone. Loved the burrata that comes with flamed grapes and more yummy bread. The halibut was very exciting! I need to come back here more often.“

“Aye aye, mateys! The Progress is quite the culinary treasure chest! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was stepping into a gourmet wonderland—shiny, modern, and just fancy enough to make a sponge feel special! The whole place has that perfect blend of swanky and cozy, like a kelp garden under a full moon!
Now, let’s talk about the grub! The dishes are served family-style, which is perfect for sharing with your best buddies (or a starfish who just can’t make up his mind). The grilled octopus was tender and tasty—like a hug from a jellyfish, but in a good way! And that roasted duck? Quack-tastic! Full of flavor and crispy in all the right places!
The service was as friendly as a sea cucumber at a conga line—super helpful and full of great suggestions. The drinks? Well, let’s just say they’d make even Squidward smile!
Only giving four stars because a few dishes could’ve used a bit more zing, and the portions were a bit smaller than a sea squirrel's acorn stash. But overall, The Progress is definitely worth diving into for a fin-tastic night out! I’ll be back for sure, and I’ll bring Patrick next time!
Anchors aweigh, foodies!“

“
Overall: Tasty food but a bit on the expensive side.
The extended review…
- We went family style and ordered a bunch of things. The standouts for me was the duck. These were entrees that were definitely more pricy but were definitely tasty and more unique.
- Friendly and attentive staff
- The ambiance is amazing. The decor is well curated and if the round tables with the inset lazy Susan were available to purchase I’d definitely consider it.“

“Cotogna is amazing! They were so accommodating and the outdoor seating is lovely. They have blankets which were appreciated on a windy day. I had the corn triangoli that just tasted like summer. The squash blossom pizza was so fresh and salty, the thin crust was amazing. I loved everything! Fair warning though, you’ll be spending a pretty penny here. Definitely a place to celebrate the special occasions.“

“Very fresh ingredients for consistent quality preparation. Generous portions of all menu items. We have ordered here a couple of times and keep coming back. We ordered at 5pm and were given a 15 minute pick up. Folsom can be busy at that time but there were several parking spaces. We like vegetables so we ordered the Hunan Eggplant, Kung Pao Chicken with red peanuts and the Sautéed Rex Sole with seasonal green peas. It was ready for pick up and the service was super polite. There is a 20% for pick up. It is super easy for SOMA residents! Highly recommended!“

“Came here for dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday and mine also. I had not been here since they had remodeled the restaurant years ago. We had an amazing meal! Ordered several starters, based on the recommendations of our server. We started with the delicious Little Gem Salad, then mostly chose from the “Smaller” items on the menu. We ordered the eggplant, mussels, kefta, broccolini, and the amazing cornbread with harissa butter. My friend and I thought this was the best cornbread we've ever had! We were so full and couldn't even order dessert, but they brought out candles and two just baked chocolate chip cookies. Only could eat one and took the other one home. We are definitely coming back to try the main entrees. Highly recommend this place!!!“

“Everything we ordered was good. In fact we couldn’t eat it all. Your pizza was so delish! Never had chow fun wrapped up in little rolls but it was pretty good. Your shaking beef salad was good too. Definitely a dining experience in Asian fusion!“

“My family stumbled upon this place by pure luck since my elementary school was located up the hill & we were drawn in by the enticing smell from the fresh focaccia breadI fell in love with the flavor at first bite, had to fend off my classmates asking to have some. Since then I've made a few trips a year to visit this neighborhood treasure and have been transported in time to my childhood every time I come back.I mean seriously, how many businesses do you know of that only sell one thing, close early in the day, and run out of many items before noon forcing people to line up in the freezing morning cold to ensure their favorite is in stock...and STILL has the undying love of their customers?!?“

“My only complaint about Zazie is I wish it was much closer to me.
I've really enjoyed their brunch and felt it was worth the inevitable wait for a table each time. They're quite a popular bistro in the neighborhood and do a good job with each of their menu offerings but I recommend their egg creations for brunch (they have a variety of poached eggs (e.g. Benedict) options with their delicious lemon Hollandaise, for example).
Whether you sit inside the cozy interior or outside on the patio, service is professional and attentive.

“We waited outside for an hour and a half, it was worth every minute of the wait. Our party was on the larger side, so we ordered one of, most, everything of the appetizers, the enoki mushroom chips were to die for, we ordered the spicy and plain. Both were delicious, the plain chips were subtle and addicting, the spicy chips weren't overboard on the heat; it was very complimentary. I enjoyed the spicy lamb miso as my main. I've never had a ramen with lamb, so I was curious. It was an experience of flavor balance and textural delight. Thank you, my respects to your talented team ?
Vegetarian options: A total vegan section of the menu, it was nice that our vegan member of our party had just as many delicious options we did“

“Highly recommended. Vibrant atmosphere, knowledgeable service, well executed dishes, and inventive cocktails. The pork chop and the stracciatella starter were mind blowing. Pro tip: the mains are large so consider sharing between two. Great for a date or a good dinner with friends. It’s noisy so probably no first dates. Attire smart casual. Get a cab as it’s hard to park nearby.“

“We are visiting the SF area, and this place is our first dinner restaurant in town. We didn't try the tasting menu, but instead, we ordered a few Izakaya style dishes.
We like the taste of the Oden and Iwashi the most. But we felt the Iwashi was a bit over fried. We also ordered some Yakitori, the meat was soft, but we felt it was less salt and tare source.
The varieties of the food are limited and at a higher price. This is very different from our past experience, including in Japan, where izakaya usually has a lot of options and at a relatively cheaper price.
The service and the overall atmosphere were average. Not much customer engagement, but simply took the order abs brought the dishes. But 20% service charge was, by default, added to the total bill?
Reservation is highly recommended as the place does get busy.“

“The calamari appetizer was so delicious and plenty for two to share. The first course pasta dish was good but we realized that we could have skipped that course. We are both seniors and do not eat as much as we used to, so next time we'll skip the first course and just have appetizer and main course. Maybe that way we can also have dessert. Our main courses were delicious, particularly the lamb. We also had the special bread which we loved. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room is small and tables are quite close together. We would recommend this restaurant.“

“Delicious from start to finish. We had the perigord black truffle soft egg appam, rasam poori, crispy sambal peppers, scallop & rhubarb, thattukada fried chicken, chargrilled bone marrow, southern kerala shrimp mango curry, and coorgi pandi curry. Each dish was unique, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For dessert we had the "God's Own" coconut variation, cardamom pave, and sweet corn ice cream. The pave was my personal favorite, but "God's Own" was the crowdpleaser. Excellent service and lovely ambiance to top it all off. Thank you to our server, Ice, for a fantastic evening!
Parking: Lots of parking in the Japantown garage.
Wheelchair accessibility: Low ramp from entryway to dining area.“

“I dropped in for a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon. I was in the mood for some mole. I have a dairy allergy but the staff was happy to serve the mole enchiladas without the cheese or crema. The dish was fantastic. You can taste both the sweetness of the chocolate and the spice of the peppers. And the rice on the side was perfectly executed, not sticky or clumpy like most places. I also ordered a glass of Sangria, which was ok. Next time, I would order a Mexican beer. This is serious Mexican comfort food.
Dietary restrictions: They happily prepared their famous chicken mole enchiladas without dairy.“

“I am visiting San Francisco from Denver and I was looking for an amazing lobster roll, and I found it at Luke’s Lobster. The roll had nice big chunks of lobster meat on it and the bread was delicious, toasted and buttery. The clam chowder was meaty and flavorful and the lobster bisque had good sized chunks of lobster, was creamy and so tasty. This was an easy 5/5.“

“They offer two tasting menus the seasonal 8 course and then the 5 course. We did the 5 course menu and it was the perfect amount of food. Also did the drink pairing which was on point and balanced each dish incredibly well.
The food was delicious and the flavors were creative, bright, and true Cali farm to table.
Did two add-ons, the oysters (bright, creative, delicious) and the duck ?
It was a 2 hour experience that breezed by, not too slow and not rushed.
The ambiance was great! Open kitchen, not too much seating, felt intimate. The two person tables are laid out the way all 2 person tables should be, back to back not side by side.
Service was top notch as you’d expect. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.
Will definitely go back, a new fave in SF.“

“Incredible food, great date night spot. They were very accommodating to my dairy allergy which isn’t easy for an Italian place and the food was phenomenal despite the restrictions. Lots of natural wines which they walk you through. I also got the squid ink pasta, and I normally don’t like squid ink but gosh this was amazing. Portions weren’t too big for me, but by no means too small. The food is quite rich and very creative! It’s not too loud but loud enough to have privacy. The pistachio tanette was my favourite!
Dietary restrictions: Dairy allergy, had plenty of options“

“First time dining here. The two of us shared two pasta dishes, both of which were very, very good and rich! Our waiter's wine recommendation was spot on. We also shared a Margherita pizza, which was good but over-salted, probably a slip up by the chef, to the point where we could not finish it. Fun place though.“

“Dim sum style New American dishes are simply fabulous. We ordered 10 (out of 14) and enjoyed all of them. The two main courses were also excellent. Service was efficient & engaging at the same time. A bit noisy, and not the most comfortable seating for more than 4.“
