“This is a culinary delight and an absolute MUST dining experience in the super quaint "Main Street" area of San Mateo. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive - as if you were honored guests in their home. The food was incredible - truly something for everyone - and delicious. The wine list is extensive - they offer Caymus Cab by the glass; a rare occurence. The cocktails were well crafted. Start to finish...this was a meal and an establishment to remember. I will be back! You need to check this place out!!Parking: Immediately in front of the restaurant is a walkable promenade (no vehicular traffic) - 2nd & 3rd Streets offer limited street parking, some of which is restricted - much is taken up by restaurant outdoor dining "parklets". YOUR BEST BET is the Main Street Parking Garage. You only pay until 6 PM...it is free until 2 AM thereafter.Kid-friendliness: Not so much. This is definitely a "hey, mom & dad, take a few hours off! Get a sitter!" kinda place.Wheelchair accessibility: Accomodating - but give them a heads up ahead of time. One of our guests had a walker and staff graciously helped her get situated, and stowed the walker while we dined.“
“A couple of friends and I went for a late lunch, we ordered a carbonara pasta, steak (med rare), and the seafood pasta. They were so accommodating to the three of us! Menu changes everything! What great service. And, the food, especially the pasta (first time I've ordered pasta outside oven entirely Italian pasta place) was great. The waiter was kind enough to take our pictures, and although all three of us are a little quirky was so patient. Wonderful service. Great food. Ample free, safe, parking. Clean.Great American food spot!Thank you!Parking: Parking spots directly in front. Small walking distance, safe parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible with the ran for disabled or temporarily hurt people!“
“There are a few small plates available from each of several Mediterranean cuisines. The overall collection is somewhat eclectic, but the quality was consistently very good and mixing the different styles worked. The wine list is also good and fairly representative of the different cuisines.“
“Rated this place five stars because it’s really the best no-nonsense brunch place I’ve been to in the Bay Area. The wait is short, the menu has amazing options, price is reasonable, and the food is of high quality and well presented. Sure, it’s not your typical elevated, extremely instagrammable type of brunch, but I prefer this to long waits and overpriced meals at other places.I’ve tried many of their toasts and croffles and they’re all phenomenal. Other favorites include the Denver omelette and ham&cheese crepe. The lattes are also great, with emerald matcha being my favourite!“
“Saw people bringing up Kazunori but can you really compare the two? Kazunori lacked the specialty sets that Taki Nori offers. We both ordered their premium set, which included Japanese scallops, lobster, wagyu, and uni & toro hand rolls. We also tried a few of their other hand rolls a la carte style. The uni handroll was easily our favorite (Japanese uni btw!).Handroll Project is still the better value, but this is a nice addition to Bay Area. Service was also good - the server we had was very attentive and prompt. We did have a small issue with snow crab running out, but the server resolved it for us. Overall a good experience here for us.“
“This is our second time going now. Service again was very good and super attentive. The wine selection is outstanding and honestly overwhelming. We just usually get the flights to be able to sample what they recommend. The flatbread pizza is very tasty with good crunch texture. Will go back again!“
“Delicious warm bread to start the meal. Two of us had the lamb chops with a chimichurri sauce they were tender, delicious, and perfectly cooked, one medium and the other medium rare. They were also kind enough to split a Caesar salad for us. My husband had the homemade tagliatelle (recommended by our server), perfectly al dente. We ended our meal with a lava cake, oozing with melted chocolate, my new favorite dessert.“
“We’re regulars from the time the restaurant was named Rasa and the name change has, if anything, made it better. The food, service and ambiance are all amazing. It remains our go-to restaurant for all special occasions and taking friends visiting from outside the Bay Area!!“
“Food was good, but the biggest downer was the lasagna. Tasted great, but came out cold. I get that it's not made to order, but this was room temperature or lower. A bit unappetizing, and disappointing since it was a cold day and I was looking forward to a nice hot meal. Place was quite, but it was a Tuesday, so easy to have a conversation. Next time I would send the lasagna back to be reheated -“
“How have I not tried this place yet??? Went there for lunch with a friend on Monday. I love Greek food and always up to try a new spot. Pylos was wonderful! For lunch I had the seafood souvlaki which was delicious. Nice big shrimp and pieces of salmon in a warm, fresh pita with just the right amount of tzatziki sauce. Comes with a salad and they were kind enough to out the dressing on the side. My friend had one of the gyro wraps and she loved it. They also have Greek French fries which I have heard are amazing. Unfortunately, my current eating plan does not include them but there is always a next time! Service was very friendly and prompt. They have a nice inside restaurant and a great outside setup with heat lamps. Yay! Hubby loves Greek too so we will definitely be back (I'm going to steal his fries ).“
“Sat in the back patio, which was nice and warm and covered. Food was solid. We didn’t like the pear burrata special, but the pizzas were quality (we got the sausage honey and sausage broccolini pizzas). The bread pudding dessert was solid too. Overall, recommend this “
“Had a great time at PHB. Service was on point. Food was great. Menu online looked interesting, and the food did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back. Good selection of craft cocktails. If you're in the area and want to have a great dinner and atmosphere, stop by. I recommend making a reservation to make sure you don't wait and get seated.“
“I just love this place. It’s such a great neighborhood low key vibe but mixed with some of the best food I’ve had in the Bay Area - unpretentious but inventive, high quality and just hand down delicious. I love that everyone who works at Bottleshop seems to really believe in Bottleshop. It means a lot to have all your staff excited about what this place is doing. The owners are well versed in all things wine and always have something fun on hand. Could not recommend this place more.“
“Ambiance is arty, comfortable and lovely. Menu had great choices and the 3 of us were so pleased with our choices. I brought home the leftovers and they were just as delicious the next day. We had the mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, shrimp and the crab ‘taco'. The winter sangria was delicious and full body with rich red wine and port YUM just right for this time of year!“
“Nice selection of ciders and very friendly owners with a small but inviting taproom. We've had their Honey Sage, Peach & Lemon Verbena, and Hibiscus Mint at other local breweries and really enjoyed them, so decided to stop in upon learning that they had a taproom. We got a flight of their Puns n Roses, Zin, Ginger Peppercorn, Arkansas Black, Nehou Normal, and Jonathan, of which we liked the first two. Also got a bottle to go of their Coffee Chaff and Bourbon Barrel, which was very different from any of the other ciders we tried. We had a good time and look forward to coming back!“
“We love this place and it is our go to place to bring all of our friends. Their wine selection is outstanding and their food is superb....the specials are so delicious, especially their drunken noodles! Check them out, I promise they never disappoint.Dietary restrictions: They pay special attention to my wife's food allergies and are meticulous about making sure she is taking care of.“
“The atmosphere, service and wines were amazing I wish I were able to say my Mediterranean pasta was good but wasn’t; I believe they use cooked shrimp in the dish and if not mistaken it said “prawns” which is why I had ordered it in the first place, the shrimp was absolutely overcooked and trust me I know my shrimp since my sis uses cooked shrimp I know the awful texture and would never expect it to be served in this amazing restaurant.I absolutely will go back and hopefully they will use fresh shrimp and try the dish again.“
“The food is great, and they have several interesting dishes on the menu that I haven't seen at other Mediterranean places. The ambiance is pretty nice, too (it used to be super brightly lit, but they’ve since fixed that and placed small lamps on each table, which makes for a super cozy vibe)“
“Came here for a friend's birthday. I wish there was more information online about their menu, but overall, we had a fantastic time, enjoying both the wine and food. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially for those of us less familiar with wine. The quaint, small setting adds to the charm, and I'll definitely return. It's a lovely spot to unwind and savor a glass of wine.“
“You would never think this was a fine dining restaurant from the outside. Every detail on the inside is quality. From the silverware to the service, these owners did not cut corners on anything. If you come when it is slow, you will feel like royalty. The lobster bisque is mind blowing. When I say you will lick the plate, I am not exaggerating. This restaurant is a must try for any seafood lover.“
“First time yesterday for a casual date night. Reservation was a bit hard to secure, but once booked, we were followed up on multiple times to know our ETA. When we arrived on a busy Saturday night, we were whisked back immediately to our desired corner window table. We knew what we wanted beforehand and was happy the items were not “sold out” (happened more times than you think it’s possible). For appetizer, we split the Black Truffle Soup in two, and it was a good thing we did it since the amount was just right, more so as we planned to have the Dry Aged Ribeye as the entree. The ribeye (we both had it medium rare) was one of the very best I’ve had in recent times (and I’ve been to quite a few expensive restaurants in SF over the last 6 months) - it was flavorful, juicy and well marbled, perfectly complemented by the Bordelaise sauce.I will definitely come back here again, just for the Ribeye!“
“Awesome appetisers, salads and crudette plates. My friend enjoyed the selection of wines. Great jazz ensemble on Thursday nights. Friendly patrons.Parking: I parked in the Box building after 5pm. Also some paid street parking but you need to get lucky to find a space after 5.Wheelchair accessibility: This is ground floor and plenty of tables are available.Dietary restrictions: I don't eat pork, there are plenty of options. I think they have a few gluten free options.“
“Wonderful dining experience. We are big fans of Domenico and their Easter Brunch was lovely and a fun afternoon. Service was excellent - as always. I highly recommend dining at Domenico's , go for brunch ,lunch or dinner - you are guaranteed great food and a wonderful time.“
“Walking with a friend on Laurel Street we stopped in for a glass of Champagne and a Cheese Plate. Seating at the bar was comfortable, friendly bartender, an entire wall of wine you will surely find the perfect accompaniment to anything on the menu. Atmosphere was relaxed, casual and service en pointe. Parking can be difficult especially on weekends.“
“LOVE! The food and wine are great. They have a lovely, dog friendly outdoor patio. The service is always good. The Sommelier is knowledgeable and friendly. Best gluten free pizza I've ever had. The pastas and pizzas are incredible. They also have a fun brunch menu!“
“I had lunch at this Italian restaurant on a Thursday afternoon with a former business colleague and it was a wonderful experience. We ordered the Grilled Prawns Wrapped with Pancetta appetizer, with the Veal Piccata and the Salmon Nicoise salad as entrees. All of the dishes served were very generous portions. The Grilled Prawns had three very large fresh prawns and was served with a lot of delicious sauteed beans with arugula on top. The dish tasted fantastic. The Veal Piccata was also to die for- served in a rich lemon butter sauce with capers over mashed potatoes and a lot of fresh spinach. Enough to take home for the next day! The Salmon Nicoise salad had an abundance of fresh ingredients and was very tasty. Bread and an olive oil bread dip are served at no charge when seated. We finished off our meal with two traditionally made Cappuccinos that were perfect. Service was also impeccable with exactly the right timing between courses. This restaurant is now on my "return again and again" list! Thank you so much for a great and satisfying meal.“
“We were in town for Valentine's Day so I made a reservation here. I knew it would be busy, which it was, but the service was still great. We were taken care of quickly, our waters were always full (which is important to me), the wine was great and the food was even better. All the wait staff were friendly, and helpful. I would definitely recommend Pulpo if you are in the area!“
“1st time here. Service was a bit slow at first. Once we placed our order, food came out timely. One staff member was very friendly and the food was delicious. There was a service charge added to our check, but it was explained prior. I really enjoyed the vibe. Happy and slow.“
“What a vibe, great drinks! The bartenders are QUALITY... They are very attentive and quick to push out quality drinks. The place was not really crowded due to the rain but the patrons were diverse and respectful. One thing I did notice was that despite being able to work efficiently, the bar did cycle through workers often. Would begin socializing with the group and then look to the bar, new bartenders. Talk more, look back and it was back to original with maybe some new faces or mix of them. There was one bartender guy that looked like a model or belonged on one of those Netflix dating shows. Tipped him twice as much because... why not? The drinks were unique! There was a matcha martini that was really good. The after taste had a nice matcha aroma and the mezcal drink, campfire something. Those two were the ones I asked for and both delivered in terms of taste, visual appeal, and price. Did not get to try the food since we arrived pretty late. However, would be cool to come back soon to!“
“Not sure if I can rate anything bad about this place! Wine, service, food and live music all were great. Spent my birthday here and just enjoyed every moment, sip and bite. Their artichoke dip is out of this world. I had their Malbec and my partner had their Cabernet and they were both really nice. They had Kira Hooks singing jazz that night and she was mesmerizing. I will come back here again and again. This place might look ordinary from the outside but the charm lies in their hospitality!“
“One of my favorite places. 1st, it has the best and friendliest service of anywhere in town! The food never disappoints. I like to go earlier in the evening before it gets too crowded and noisy. I don’t like to eat a meal with a friend when it’s too loud to have a conversation. Would recommend this place for great service and food!“
