This was our farewell visit to North Beach as it was closing on New Year's Eve after 78 magnificent years serving great meals. I've been coming here since the 1990's and it became my favorite restaurant. This was “old school” dining at its finest. A Maitre de in a suit at the door. Linen tablecloth's and napkins. Walking down the street i could smell the prosciutto a block away, apparently NB Restaurant makes their own prosciutto... 100,s of them aging in their wine cellars bellow. I walked over with my friend and introduced myself to the manager who proceeded to take us on a tour of the wine cellar, the party room below as well as the multiple rooms of meat hanging and aging with that beautiful aroma that you'd swear you'd only smell in Italy.
