Everyone here was really nice and welcoming and it's convenient right after getting off the Caltrain. I liked the location a lot. I'd never been to a Philz before, so I was a little taken off guard when they told me they only do filter coffee. That's alright, I figured. I might prefer a good flat white, but I can do a black coffee when the beans are good. I was in a rush. The beans were not good. When the employee gave me my drink, they even prefaced it by saying "If you change your mind and want cream or sugar, let me know," with a very apprehensive face. That was a bad sign before I even took my first sip. Like, that shouldn't be the default. I mean, I get it. Black coffee doesn't taste as good as with cream and sugar. But I'm trying to be a little bit healthier in my mornings, and great coffee should be potable without the deathly additives. At my local coffee shop back home, getting their cup of the day is delicious. Here, it's no better than gas station coffee. I get that their thing is creamy, sugary drinks, so if that's what you want, great. I guess I'm just not the target demographic for this place. It's not good "coffee" because the beans are absolutely unremarkable, if not downright bad. I ended up just throwing it away and stopping at another cafe on the way to work. Oh, well.

Ordered my coffee on door dash at 8:45 am, at 9:05 I was approached saying they can refund my money. I said no I want my coffee. It is now 9:10 and I'm still waiting. Horrible service, super condescending staff. I will not be back.

The Mission Bay location has excellent pour over. Well worth the wait. Large windows with lots of light, closeness to UCSF.

Really nice and cozy cafe with great ambience. There's decent space to sit and work as well. Not as crowded during weekday lunch hours. Their menu was quite interesting with quite a lot of different "flavors" of coffee from mild, medium to strongly caffeinated. Philz coffee is a great coffee chain. It may not have the usual coffee options, especially if you're only interested in a latte or americano. They usually serve their coffee without milk.

When she approached the register to let them know, the woman said in a very brusque tone, "Too bad. You knew what you were ordering." The lack of basic kindness and poor customer service skills was upsetting and something I'd never experienced before at Philz. In fact, in the past they always seemed willing to go out of their way to make a good cup of coffee! Perhaps there is a general decline in quality, as we noticed that the tables were dirty when we arrived. We left and went to Starbucks --had a lovely time with friendly people behind the counter, good service, and excellent coffee.

Great place to stop by for coffee or hot cocoa and pastries. Everyone looks happy working here. After trying out a disappointing hot chocolate from a nearby coffee shop, I'm glad the baristas here know how up brew up some liquid chocolate. The bacon onion pretzel croissant sounded interesting. It tastes good, but I really couldn't tell if there was anything that tasted like pretzels. Also got a pork sausage and egg breakfast burrito. It's not the nicest looking burrito, and inside was all potatoes, but also tasted fine. You won't be disappointed if you order drinks here, but the food items might throw you for a loop.

I work one block from this location and have been coming here for 18 years. This morning I bought 2 lbs. of Jacobs and had the girl at the counter give both bags a #5 grind. When I got back to the clinic where I work I looked at the bags and 1 bag looked much smaller than the other so I weighed them both on a scale at work and, sure enough 1 bag only weighed 3/4 lb. I don't know what happened. Not sure if she spilled some but very disappointed. Felt cheated of 1/4 lb. At these prices that's over $5.00worth of coffee. Don't know if I will return here. Left a message for the manager but no return call yet.

Staff is always as friendly and upbeat as expected. Serves the typical yummy Philz specialties and has its own bathroom. Also very convenient location near the train station and good alternative to the other coffee chains in the area.

Philz never disappoints! I pre-ordered on the app before catching my bus to work and they finished the drink right on time with a friendly smile from the staff. The Honey Haze coffee is not too sweet and a great pick me up. Perfect way to start the morning!
