I’ve only been here a handful of times because I live 2 hours away. But it is worth the drive! It’s my special occasion restaurant and has world class sushi that does not disappoint! Sushi was the hardest thing for me to give up when I first went vegan, and this place showcases talent and artistry that is unparalleled. Truly remarkable rolls. Also the garlic edamame is a must! The ramen is good but I have a vegan ramen spot near me, so I usually skip theirs. When the menu is all vegan, it’s hard to know what to order- but the appetizers are great and the rolls are superb.
Had an amazing time here. Saved an appetite to try as many dishes as I could fit. Loved the okra nigiri and Surprise Ending roll. I could drink the sauce that comes with the garlic edamame like a soup!
I thought the sushi at Shizen was really good and worth the price! The nigiri was good too. My favorite roll was the one with the truffle hummus (I forgot the name 😭). Definitely recommend this place
I have been coming here for so many years and never had the chance to write a review. They have a variety of sushi to choose from! My favorites are the candlestick, body and soul, and the secret weapon. Their ramen is creamy and rich. They have desserts as well, but it depends on the day. I highly recommend making a reservation on yelp so you don’t have to wait in a long queue for a table. One time it took over 2 hours and it was a lesson learned!😄
really good but I might be biased because I love all vegan sushi. my favorite was the sweet potato tempura but it was close.
We loved this place. The specialty rolls we tried were to die for. We tried boddy & soul, colonel’s pipe, missing piece and candle stick.
I have been to many plant based sushi spots, and the creativity, taste and representation of the sushi we had here was the best ever.
We wanted to try something unique to San Francisco and this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the mango soda, ramen, and different types of sushi and everything was pretty good. Very impressed that it was all vegan. I definitely recommend this place if you're visiting San Francisco and looking for vegan/vegetarian dining options.
THE BEST SUSHI EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is better than some Michelin star restaurants I have been to. The service is friendly and quick. Cannot wait to return. Just truly delicious food with out of the world flavors.
Great sandwiches and salads, amazing hospitality!!
Favorites: Boddy and Soul, Secret Weapon; these were both 10/10! Would come back and get these in a heartbeat.
Prime suspect- all we tasted was asparagus, wouldn’t order again.
The yuba nigiri wasnt special.

Awesome place! You wont miss the proteins…
Awesome interior space. The menu is fun and includes many fusion-styled sushi along with some classic Japanese dishes. Enjoyed the agedashi tofu appetizer, 2 specialty roles, and a dessert along with a na drink. The only place I've had roles like this was Japan, so give this place a try! Pricing I found reasonable. Reservations mostly required; I wouldn't risk showing up without them.
Honestly, the food lacked flavour—it was very one-note and under-seasoned. The nigiri was the only dish that somewhat stood out. For a high-end restaurant, we expected better service and cleaner facilities; unfortunately, the washrooms were dirty. It gave the impression that the owners don’t take pride or care in maintaining the restaurant.
Do not recommend this place to anyone. The food was ok.. There is nothing special about the flavors or the presentation of the food.. The service was horrible.. I think our waiter was hired and not trained.. It was bad.. If this place is your only option, consider fasting for the day..
Enjoyed the Dessert mochi fried donut with strawberry 🍓 ice cream
Karaage was ok... Tofu small plate not much a fan
Ramen had flavor but didn't like the bean curd
Got a few sushi specialty rolls and avocado nigiri
