From the outside, the coffee shop looks dirty, sketchy and unsafe. That said, once you go in, the ambiance is really nice, decor is warm and staff is friendly and hospitable. I think the issue is the glass on the windows - very stained and scratched. If you changed the windows, the perception of the store would increase significantly.
A bit of trivia: This was one of the first Starbucks to open in San Francisco. President Clinton celebrated this Starbucks' Grand opening, by adding it to his jogging route down Polk Street in the early 90s. Only the Secret Service and media were allowed. I watched this on the news hours after his visit to the corner of Polk and Vallejo Street.
This Starbucks makes me think of men’s suave cigar clubs : interior has a lovely cognac colored leather sofa along with a fireplace; Their generously sized cheese and fruit box is their best offering and I wish it came with Starbucks white wine.Outdoors furniture needs to better and the volume of corporate Muzak needs to be turned down! The fireplace never works
