Tu Lan has been our favorite SF food since I first came here in 1995. Same family runs things, works hard and produces consistently delicious food all these years. It is definitely a "special" place, and you have to be OK with the local flavor as you approach the restaurant. But you will be rewarded with authentic Viet fast delicious food. Totally worth eating here!

Long time hidden gem/ hole in the wall on 6th street. The food is great, the restaurant itself is kind of crammed but there is upstairs seating available as well if you plan on dining in. Picking up is always fast & hassle free & the staff has always been friendly. They even give away free food to the homeless every now & then , which in my opinion may just be the best thing about this place. My usual go to dishes are usually the fried pork spring rolls & the yellow curry chicken fried rice.

Been coming here for well over a decade. Whatever you decide on getting, make sure you order a side of their imperial rolls! You cannot miss out on those! Their Vietnamese coffee is also solid, but on the sweeter side.

First time here (which is why I gave it a 4, I'll come back and re review when I try other items). What I like about this is the quality and convenience of this location. I actually came here after work on a cold day and it hit the spot. Their chicken pho was excellent and the meat was tender. The imperial roll was pretty hearty and meaty. Lots of textures in one bite.Id recommend!

Got the chance recently to re visit Tu Lan with my sister who was visiting. I've always loved this place, but hadn't been in quite a few years. It looks like they've done some sprucing up and i hear the kids are in charge now. Food was awesome as usual. We ordered the tofu salad, i got #17 and my sister got the vermicelli with imperial rolls. Wow, so much food and delicious as always. My favourite is still the tofu salad.

Amazing value-2017-18 prices in 2023 along with gigantic portions! I knew the place was legit when the servers were not the best at English. Having Viet roots, the hu tieu xao and imperial rolls were mediocre in taste imo compared to the best Viet dishes I have had before, but the big portions make up for it and they did taste authentically Viet. However, the bò lá nho is criminally underrated! Juicy beef filling (same as the traditional bò lá lốt dish), but with grape leaves instead. The grape leaves aren't as crunchy as, lá lốt leaves but it the mildness and consistency of it compliments the beef better because it lets the filling shine-100% recommend. The flan is unique as it does not taste traditional as there is coconut and pandan in the custard. Taste-wise it is more custardy (reminds me of bánh lọt) than eggy, and instead of caramel sugar, they use ginger-infused sugar which adds another dimension to the dish. Bò lá nho and flan is a must try here!

Great Vietnamese food at very reasonable prices . Don't be fooled by it's appearence it's a whole in the wall yes. However everyone comes here local politicians, workers in the neighborhood even celebrities have visited this place and all leave Happy.Try the Spring Rolls their fantastic ! The various Curry fried rice , crispy noodles and bbq pork are great too .I have been to Vietnam before and the food here is the next best thing to going there.
