Julio, an amazing, thoughtful man. A tourist in distress, he took control of the situation and helped me. I had lost my phone which had all my id and credit cards slotted in my phone case. I went back to Union Square Coffee where I thought I left it. I hadn't. To make a long story short, Julio helped me with changing my phone status to lost by using my friends phone, hooked me up with the bus tour manager nearby in case I lost it there...called the mobile police station, he was awesome. I was in a bit of a panic, Julio was so comforting.Excellent coffee too! We had an Americano, a cold brew latte, a chai tea...all fabulous.A great little piece of Union Square, be sure to stop by!

The building is very old and everything smells like wet carpet. The rooms are ugly and we found the bed sheets dirty. We tried to change our room but the new room they tried us to take had a bathroom so tiny we could not get in. It is definitively too expensive for what it is. Even though the location is good, try to avoid this hotel, there are so many other hotels around and I am pretty sure are better.

Paid $7, before tip, for a chai that was priced at 5 something. It was almost all milk. I paid for a $7 iced milk. Lesson learned.

I typically book my hotels with Hotwire due to their “hot deals”. This was the hotel that was picked through that deal. I needed a pet friendly hotel and one room for two adults. We checked in and got into our room, 706. It was a small double bed. This bed absolutely does NOT accommodate two adults, unless both adults are petite females, which for context it was my self and my almost 6 foot tall husband. We can back down, and I talked to front desk. They said I’d have to pay extra to upgrade to queen. I told her I booked a room for 2 adults, that bed does not comply with what I booked. She apologized to me and said the best she could do was give us a queen and we’d have to pay the difference. Fine, I said. We were then given room 710. We go back up the elevator to the 7th floor. I see room 710 and there is a ‘do not disturb sign’ on the door. So I knock just in case there’s someone in there. Nothing. I knocked again and nothing. So I open the door. And the room is dirty. The bed is disheveled as if recently used, the counters are dirty, the window is open, and the trash was not removed. So back downstairs we go. Front desk apologizes again and personally goes to check our now third room. She returns and hands us a key to room 609 and states she personally checked it herself. At this point I am just turned off by this hotel. We decide to stay because we already parked out car in a locked garage that already closed for the night and at this point we are exhausted. In future trips to San Francisco, I will not stay here again. Staff was courteous and friendly which was great. But overall just turned off with the hotel esthetics, the amount of noise, the neighborhood did not feel very safe and the fact that the hotel has the audacity to state two adults fit comfortably in a double size bed they have. No they do not. This is false advertising in my opinion, that bed is not even wide enough to hold two average size males comfortably. And honestly that’s what bothered me so much about this hotel. The fact that they were not able to accommodate two adults comfortably.

Julio was the best!!!

Dirty tables. Very average coffee, and oily croissant. With this service you shouldnt expect tips! One coffee+tea+croissant costs 22 dollars.

We ate lunch here on a busy Saturday afternoon during the Taiwanese Cultural Festival. My cappuccino was excellent and way better than any Starbucks or other coffee shop. The iced coffee was superb. We also ordered 2 pizzas, a croissant, and a raspberry tart. The pastries were delicious. The service, however, was the big winner. The man who served us (twice because I came back later for more drinks) was SO nice and friendly and sweet.

Please avoid this hotel at all costs. This place is completely atrocious and unprofessional. Walking into the lobby we had the worst experience, I booked this hotel only because it was advertised on Hotels.com as pet friendly. I was with my service animal and I was suffering from the loss of a family member that morning, the second we walk in the door, the very rude and unprofessional front desk guy yells and says “no pets allowed”! I pull up the page and show him it’s pet friendly and that my small service animal of 9lbs was trained and well behaved He looked at us with disgust and refused to let me stay. I told him I’d be canceling the room and he laughed and said I wouldn’t be able to cancel. I immediately called Hotels.com and thank god for them because they were able to book us in an amazing hotel room right in front across the street called The Clift Royal Sonesta hotel. I’m so greatly thankful we were able to stay and rest at an actual hotel room for the exact same price thanks to Hotels.com amazing customer service and their understanding of the extremely unprofessional experience we had at this hotel. The day was January 29, 2023 at around 4 pm, too bad I didn’t remember the name of the front desk guy because he seriously deserves to be fired. This hotel is 100% way better off getting rid of such a cruel and unprofessional employee that doesn’t even know they are a pet friendly hotel for a specific fee . He said “they took it off the website years ago” that was a lie!! Just look at the website it shows pet friendly and look at the second pic of the way they respond to guest reviews. Unbelievable! Do not waste your time at this place, I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels and have NEVER experienced this type of terrible treatment.

They increased their prices way too high.

I hate posting bad reviews but training and system management need improvement. I’m excessively tolerant of holiday traffic and mishaps but this was ridiculous. Ordered 2 bagels cream cheese. Waited 30 minutes. Asked what the problem was after 15 minutes- we could clearly see that our order was not in the board, told there was a “small problem” with the printer and they were making them “now.” We continued to watch person after person get served their orders, including bagels! Watched the workers run the bagels thru the toaster multiple times because no one has trained them to turn the heat up. When we finally got our food, it was tasty though my bagel was barely toasted.Needs management- not a phrase I usually say.

I am giving the location of the hotel 10/10. The hotel is just 4 minutes from Union Square in a safe area. Very near shops like Macy’s, CVS, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes etc. Restaurants are also all over the hotel. Starbucks is just beside the hotel as well as fastfood (Jack in the Box), Japanese, Thai restaurants. Theaters and galleries are just in front of the hotel. Hotel is also very near BART/train, bus stops and cable car. The price is very good for its premium location. Nearby hotels like Ritz, Hilton and Westin are expensive. Hotel facilities are also adequate for its price. They provide soap, shampoo, tissue, towels, hair dryer, iron and refrigerator etc. Hot and cold water is also available in the lobby. Hotel has no aircon but hotel has provided an electric fan. SF is very cold though we did not even need to turn on the fan. Contrary to the reviews here, we did not experience any noise from the trucks or vehicles. We had a peaceful comfortable sleep. If you want affordable hotel in a great location, I recommend this hotel.

Tasty coffee and donuts though a bit pricey, which makes sense considering the location. Place is very popular with birds too.

Well I didn't expect much. However, the only important thing to me is cleanliness. The room is very old furnished, which is ok with me. But it smells soooo bad. There is no AC and it's impossible to sleep by the open window because it's too noisy outside. But the worst thing is that the bedding was not clean at all there were stains all over. Then i found used towels in the closet. There was no toilet paper. And the neighbourhood is terrible. It's really close to the center but in the night it's not safe at all. There were plenty of homeless and addicts in front of the hotel the whole night.
