Great Deal but the service is questionable these old Vietnamese are slow moving. Food can be on and off last time my pho had a ton of noodles and not much else.

This review is for their failure to utilize both a “NOW OPEN” sign and business hours properly! If it’s 8:10pm - and all three: your sign, operating hours and open restaurant door indicate that you’re open for business - then DON’T shoo customers out when they enter your restaurant, assuming that you’re OPEN!
I wouldn’t know how your food is because THREE times so far, when I’ve come in the evening (during sign, listed hour and open door “operating hours”) I encounter 20 Asian men sitting at tables who stare up at me, before presumed owner hurriedly tells me to leave. Wtf? So I can or cannot buy a sandwich during operating hours? Is there a secret password? But for that, “service” and “atmosphere” get ⭐️(0, properly) and “food” too. I’ll update this review if I’m ever admitted to this seemingly secret club.
I am curious - what happens if I order food through their website and then arrive DURING OPERATING HOURS, to pick up my paid-for order?? I briefly considered this before my 3rd attempt to visit the restaurant, tonight around 8pm - which, of course, ended with the same crowd of stares, confused “are you open?” while pointing to the, in-my-face “WE’RE OPEN” sign, and the oddly-frantic “No no no” shoo-out response. What’s the dang password???

This place is as old school as they come. Tables of older guys drinking beer and playing dominoes, gaggles of women gossiping no doubt about each others family members and the smell of cigarettes wafting in the air every time the front doors opened..but all of that just adds to the flair of absolutely authentic Vietnamese food. What an absolute treat! All carefully made to order. All freshly served with ample portions and the best part….IT WAS CHEAP!!!!! If you’re looking for a hidden gem, this is definitely the place!

Best price in the San Francisco to san Jose Area
I ordered via DoorDash but know that’s a pretty sketchy area of the town which means that you have the best price for value (totally the case)!I ordered some banh cuon and some vermicelli with grilled pork. Both were well done and really affordable
Ouch, everyone must have ordered better than me. Fried chicken was cold and soggy, like it was cooked that morning or something. Chow fun noodles were good. Combo rice was fine.

Very good Banh Mi's for pretty cheap given SF standards. The main issue is that it's in the Tenderloin and people are shooting up outside. Usually I'll come here via bike and pick up sandwiches. Bring cash.

Bun bo hue (spicy soup) is good, and the old viet people there are kind
a modest, unpretentious Vietnamese restaurant with generous quantities and affordable rates. The bahn mi's beef turned me off a little, and the dish itself wasn't very good, but overall the experience was passable at surprisingly low costs. Despite their limited command of English, the proprietors were kind and considerate. All things considered, a good local cuisine option.

The surrounding neighborhood has really gone downhill, but Vietnam House remains a refuge for quiet dining and good food. Prices are low, especially for take-out.

Delicious bahn mi sandwiches, especially the pork! Beef is good too. Reasonably priced, such an excellent bang for the buck. I’ve only had takeout so cant speak for the service or atmosphere of the spot.
